The Iwstees present their report and financial Statements for the year ended 31 March 2020.
The accounts have b8en prepared in accordance with the accounting policies sel out in note 110 th e accounts
and comply with the Companies Act 2006 and 'Accounling and Reporting by Charities.. Statem8nt of

Th8 Charity assists in thè provision of a free, independent. confidential and impartial service of advice,
information and counsel for the public and with the implemenlalion ol such advice on different areas of the law
includin9 consumer, ernploymenl legislation, social sècurity benefits, money advice, health, housing rights,
education. travel, legal, tax, utility, immigration. discrimination end representation at tribunals. The Charity
aims lo redu￿ stress, worry and empower clients through the prowsion of these services. rhe Charity 8eeks
lo make represenlalions lo and influence Government and other bodies regarding the development and
implemenlalion of appropriate policies. The community benefits through b&nefil awar8n&ss sessions and
money advice sessions by educating them on their rights. These services arg available lo everyone
regardless of rnce, gender, sexuality, age, nalionalily, disability or religion, who live in the council area of
Causeway Coast & Glens.
COVID19
Covid 19 has impacted our community significantly and il was, therefore, imperative for us to continue
delivering our service al fL511 staffing lèvels. A Covid risk assessment was carried out and most staff have be&n
WOTking al home. We have been operating mainly wilhoul foce-lo-face services, delivering advice via digital
means lo all bul the most vulnerable. We have met funders, requiremgnls on all ￿￿tracts and have not
experienced any signrficanl reduction in funding as a result.
The Iruslees have paid due regard to guidan￿ issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities
the charily should undertak8.
Achlevem&nts and parformance
Financial revi8w
During the Current financial year the charity performed as expected, with a decrease in the nel deficit in the
current year relative lo the prior year. The net surplus for the ye8r to 31 March 2020 w88 £18,76412019.' nel
deficit of £17.761).
The Charity regularty reviews ils policy on risk. The Iruslees have assess&d the major risks lo which the
charity is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place lo mitigate exp05uie lo the major risks. The
main risks lo the charity are associated with being adequately funded to continue with ils main objectives. The
charity is heavily dependent on grants the Causeway Coast & Gl8ns Council.
The Charity plans lo continue lo spend re80urces in order lo achieve ils mission, as set out above.

Community Advice Causeway is a charitable company limited by guarantee. It is governed by ils
memorandum and articles of association. 11 is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission for Northern
Ireland. The cornpany is recognised as a charity by HhllRC (Charity Number.. NIC 1030181.

R&cruitmont and appointment of trustoes
Trustees are recruited by a fomial application. interview, assessment and appointment process. This process
is carried out by the Trustee Board. No persons exleinal b the charity are entitled lo appoint Iruslees.
Suceesslul applicants follow an induction pro¢ess carried out in part by the Chief Officer and in part by the
Trustee Board. We operate a training and development policy for our Trustee Beard, including an annual skills
audit
Organlsatlonal structure and decision maklng
Operational day-lo-day decisions are delegated lo the Chief Officei, Samantha Boswell. Financi81 and
strategic decisions are the responsibility of the Board. Trustee Board sub-groups are respon$ible for
Governance, Human Resources and Finance decisions, meets'ng quarte￿Y. General Trustee Board meetings
are 8150 held quarterly.
Relationship with related partles
There were no associations with related parbes during the current financial year.
None of the Iruslge5 has any beneficial interest in the company. All ol the Iruslees are members of the
company and guarantee to contribute £1 in the ev&nl of a winding up.
Employee Involvèrnent
Applications for employment by disabled persons are always fully Conside￿ d, bearing in mind the aptitude$ of
the applicant concerned. In the event of members of staff becoming disabled, every effDrt is made to ensure
that their employment within the charity continues and that the appropriate training is arranged. It is the policy
of the charity that the Irainlng, career development and promotion of disabled persons should, as far as
possible, be identical lo that of other employees.

Statement of trusle&s' responsibilltlgs
The Iruslees, who are also the directors of Community Advice Causeway for the purpose of company law, are
responsible for preparing the Trustees. Report and the financial slalemenls in accordance with applieable law
and United Kingdom Accounting Standards Iuniled Kingdom GenerallyAccepled Accounting Practice}.
Company Law requires the Iruslees lo prepare fin?ncial slalements for each financial year which give a true
and fair wew of the slate of affairs of the charity and of the incomlng resources and applicèlion of resources,
including the incomè and expenditure, of the charitable company for that year.
In preparing these financial slalements, the Iruslees are required lo..
selèct suitable accounting policies and then apply them consislenlly..
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP.,
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.,
slate whether applicable UK Accounting Slandarcls have been followed, subject lo any material departures
disclosed and explained in the financial statements., and

The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy
al any time the financial position of the charity and enable them lo ensure that the financial 8lalemenls ￿mplY
with the Companies A¢1 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Gharity and hence
for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularitr'e8.
Auditor
Thè auditor, Irwin Donaghey Stockman LLP, is deemed lo be ￿appoInted under section 48712} of the
Companies Act 2006.
Dlsclosure ol information to audltor
Each of the Iruslees has confirmed that there is no infoimalion of which they are aware which is relevant lo
the audit, but of which the auditor is unaware. They have further confirmed that they have taken appropriate
steps lo identify such relevant infomialion and lo establish that the auditor 1$ aware of such information.
