TRUSTEES REPORT

This report covers the period l April 2022 to 31 March 2023
THE PURPOSE
The Four Orange Thursday Club has been established to promote the advancement of community
relations between all members of the community in Newtownhamilton and surrounding areas and
its environs without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. It will so do by
associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in common efft)rt to
advance education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare, education, recreation or
other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said
inhabitants, to establish a community development initiative and to co-operate with other relevant
organisations in the promotion of activities by the club and its constituent bodies in furtherance of
the above objects. To promote and provide education in the Ulster-scots music and culture and
other indigenous traditions and cultures.
PUBLIC BENEFIT
The trustees have agreed to the Commissions Public Benefit system during the year.
REPORT
We have just had another very successful year for the club, numbers have been improving steadily
and all the volunteers and committee are working well together to improve the club.
During the year we had 23 Tea Dances with an average of 38 members per a Thursday. The
volunteers arrange the event and provide the refreshments, over the 23 weeks we have had several
artists providin8 the entertainment and several speakers.
The clubs annual overnight respite break was to, Londonderry/North Coast where 51members
attended, some for the first time, our first stop was at the Silver Birch Hotel, Omagh for Morning
Coffee and then to Londonderry for an Historical Tour, our overnight Break was at the White Horse
Hotel there we had an excellent meal, followed by an evening of entertainment. The next day on our
way home we stopped in Cookstown for an evening meal. Thanks must 80 to our secretary and his
volunteers for all the arrangements.
Our day trip was to Ballynahinch when 53 members attended provided an excellent networking
event and, on our way, home stopped at The Hillside Restaurant. Hillsborough for an evening meal.
Anothervery enjoyable trip.
When there was no Social Dancing the volunteers kept in contact with the senior citizens by phone,
especially the members living in isolation and to help to combat loneliness. This was very much
appreciated by the members.

This has been a very busy and successful year for the club, and we have met all our targets. We
continue to visit senior citizens in the area who live alone and encourage them to join the Thursday
Club. We are still thankful to Newry and Mourne Community Transport for their assistance getting
the senior citizens to and from our events.
This year we have completed our Training programme and an independent Evaluation this will help
with future Funding and further running of the club. Can I thank all that has been involved in running
the club over the past 7 years and hope we can continue and improve our service to our members.

At the beginning of the year the opening balance was £757.42, and the closing balance is £4819.03
