DUNLEATH ORGAN SCHOLARSHIP TRUST
Annual Report on behalf of the Trustees in respect of the year ended 30% October 2025
Following the award of scholarships to organ students in 2023 and 2024, and the benefits derived from the students’ experience of active participation in week-long organ courses involving specialist tuition, discussion in masterclasses, organ visits and performance, the Trust decided to make one or more scholarships available in 2025. Information about the organ scholarship for 2025 was circulated widely in late 2024, mainly to organ tutors in Ireland, inviting applications from organ students under the age of 30 wishing to pursue their studies at a high level and benefit from the specialist teaching at one of the recognised summer academies for organists. Unfortunately, no applications were received by 31st January 2025. This was an unexpected and disappointing outcome, particularly in view of the value of the scholarship scheme as acknowledged by recipients of awards in previous years.
The contribution that the Trust has made to the organ scene in Ireland over a period of thirty years, specifically in the assistance that it has given to young organists keen to advance their study of the instrument and its repertoire, is widely recognised. it should also be noted that those attending workshops and masterclasses organised by the Trust as observers appreciated the value of those experiences in enhancing their understanding of the organ and its repertoire.
