5t Cloughskelt Rural and Cultural Association Annual Report l Aprll 2018 to March 2017 Charity number: 102922 Purpose of Charity and ActivltSes and Achlevements Cloughskelt Rural and Cultural Association hold fund raising events throughout the year and give all profits to local families who are in need because of illnesses like pygeria, cerebral palsy and other illne55. We a150 hold educational and historical events to promote and educate the public on our history, heritage & culture. Thi5 year we held four successful events that brought people out to sociali5e together who th would normally attend. In June 2016 we had a 90 birthday celebration for the Queen. We had a picnic were we catered ourselves for over 200 people followed by a social evening and a slide show of the Queen. Our group made bunting forthe events and decorations and we also had souvenirs on sale. Our next event was in November when we had a Harvest Tea. We provided all the catering ourselves and over 100 people were in attendance. We had a speaker who gave a talk on the history of the people in the area who were in World War l. People read poems and letters out, we had a supper and then had a music group playing. It was a very successful and well attended event and all donations went to the British Legion. In December 2016 we held a Ladies Night with 40 people in attendance. We had artlSts in showing people how to make cake decorations, Christmas decoratlOF15 and flower arranging. We had hot chocolate and mulled wine. We also held a raffle and hamper. It was a great evening and people attended who would not normally attend. It is hoped that we will hold this event again next year. Our final event for the year was on St Patricks Day when we held a Health Day. We catered for 150 people and served a fry and tea and coffee. It was a great social event and people dropped in throughout the day. Again people attended the event who would not normally attend such social gatherings. Public Benefit In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity's purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries. All our activitie5 are related to one or more of the following charltable objectlves: l The advancement of culture by promoting and preserving the herltage, culture and traditions of the Closkelt area and its environs, conducting historical research, and motivating people to protect and conserve their cultural heritage;
2 The advancement of education by organising, promoting and presenting educational and cultural activities, developing the capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economically disadvantaged community of Closkelt in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society, and educating the public in the history, customs and culture of the area; and 3 The advancement of citizenship and community development by providing leisure and recreational facilities for the benefit and enjoyment of the public and in the interests of social welfare. Trustees for financial year 2016-2017 were as follows: Emma Trimble -vice Chair Lila Johnston Treasurer Avril Johnston Secretary Robert Herron- Chairperson There were no funds held by the charity that was in any way deficit at the end of our financial year and we had a closing balance of £8067.80 All Trustees have agreed to this report.
