**Purposes:** 1 The advancement of culture by promoting and preserving the heritage, culture and traditions of the Closkelt area and its environs, conducting historical research, and motivating people to protect and conserve their cultural heritage; 2 The advancement of education by organising, promoting and presenting educational and cultural activities, developing the capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economically disadvantaged community of Closkelt in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society, and educating the public in the history, customs and culture of the area; and 3 The advancement of citizenship and community development by providing leisure and recreational facilities for the benefit and enjoyment of the public and in the interests of social welfare.
