St Paul's, Kildollagh Trustees, Annual Report for the Period 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025 Aim and Purposes The charitable purpose of the Church of Ireland is the advancement of religion. The principal function of St Paul's, Kildollagh. {also known as Kildollagh Parish Church) is lo support the advancement of the Chnstian religion by promoting, through the work of Kildollagh Parish, the whole mission of the Church. pastoral, evangelisti¢, social, arKI ecumenical. Being open to and engaging with society as a whole and offering supFort for th¢)se needing help is fundamental to the practical delivery of the benefits of Christianrty. As a result of its activrties and in pursuit of the advancement of Christian religion. Kildollagh Parish has custody of property and of record5, materials and artefacts of signrficance to the cultural and religious heritage of the community, the maintenance of which is undertaken by the Parish as a secondary chantatAe purpose. Objectives and Actlvities All the functions of the parish relate to the advancement of religion through holding regular worship and communication with and caring for parishioners and others in our communty and in th8 wider world. The expression of the precepts of the Christian religion through engagement wth the general publi¢ and in particular with the disadvantaged, the sick, the elderly and the young is a public benefit. We are commrtted to enabling as many Peop as possible to worship at our chur¢h, lo experience increased social interaction and to give and receive pastoral care delivered at the point of need. Ther8 is a direct benefit of participating in church lrfe including enhanced spiritual and mental wellbeing through participation in public worship,. engaging in religious education,. positive social interaction. gwing and receiving pasloral ministry and from tt)e communication of value8 aimed at encouraging communrty lrfe and cohesion. These activities provide a bridge beknn diverse groups as well as improved educational outcomes through Ihe Church's ministry of teaching and direct involvement in secular education. In 8hort, we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our parish community through. 1. Worship and prayer,. leaming about and through the BIle to develop knowledge of and trust in Jesus. 2. Pastoral care provided for people living in the parish and its hintertand. 3. Failh nurture and education which includes support for children and young people through Ihe provision of religious education and participation in statutory bodies with a responsibilty for the provision of education in Northem Ireland. 4. Missionary and ¢)utreach work. To facilitate this work rt is important that we maintain the fabric of Kildollagh Parish Church and Parish Hall. We provKle a further benefrt lo the public through access to and enjoyment of cuUral and historic buildings vthich house artefacts such as church plate, fumishings and materials as well as historic records. The church building and grounds also provide a space for quiet contemplation and prayer and are open to public a¢SS. Not only does the maintenano of the church fabric enable the public to engage with a longstanding Christian heritage but also enables individuals to research historic records for geneal(>3ical purposes. Requests for such infomiation are received from all over the wodd. Access to parish records complies with GDPR regulations. A communty war memorial is located in the church grounds and is maintained by the parish. No hami arises from the activrtEs and purposes of the church and the beneficiaries are the general public.
St Paul's, Kildollagh In the course of conservation and Maintenan of parish buildings and to make these accessible to the public, the engagement of professional staff and sep11S is essential. but incidental to th8 fulIMent of the parish's aims and objecttves. Achievements, Performance and Public Benefit l. Worshlp and Prayer.. The Select Vestry, as trustees. seeks to offer a range of servi$ over the course of the year that our communty find both beneficial and spirrtually fuilling. These services are designed to engage and encourage the participation of all attendees regardsS of age, race, gender or church affiliation. Our aim is to make everyone feel vRlcome and experience the love of Christ through the expression of our worship. We not only provide regular Sunday services but also services related to the pnncipal Chnstian festivals. These services. which are offered in a range of liturgical styles, have attracted members of the general public and visitors to the Church. Our provision of worship at Christmas, Easter and Harvest has evidenced particular benefrt to the public. Emphasis is placed on encouraging people to re-engage with in-person worship as a means of ta¢kling isolation and irnproving mental health. Audio Visual equipment vthich has been sensitively installed so that it does not detract from the architectural Cha or integrity of the building further enhances the capacity of the church building lo cater for some physical disabilities and all worship sty. A loop system is used to assist those with a hearing impaimient. We continue to strive to meet the spiritual needs of those encountering major lrfe events such as birth, marriage or death and, in addrtion to parishioners, the parish has supported a number of families with no church affiliatKJn through death and b8reavement. Pastoral support extends long after the funeral and is detemiined exdusively by the needs of the individual or famity. Public baptisms are also celebrated In the church. The Parish also provides support for the communty through its prayer ministry. During 2025 prayers forthe sick and those in need in the communrty were said each Sunday in church. Thig corporate prayer ministry is augmenled by that of the Parish Crafters group. In gen8fal, prayer ministry provided by the church is very much appreciated. All are welcome to attend our regular services wrlh a substantial proportion of those attending the church living outside the geographical l)oundaries of the parish. We aim to meet the needs of disabled YrshIppers. All public heatth guidelines have been adhered to in respect of in-Ghurch worship. In addition, spiritual comfort is also provided to the housebound and those resident in car8 homes or hospitals through personal visits and, Whe requesled. through the provision of Holy Communion by the Rector. There was a 50% increase in the number of private Communions provided during the year. The spiritual needs of children and young people were addressed, through the provision of alternative fomis of worship. the establishment of a youth fellowship called 'Gathered' and the provision of children's ministry. along Vth direct engagement with children and young people in schools. This work was greatly enhanced through the parish's partnership wth six other Church of Ireland parishes namely, the Grouped Parishes of Ballintoy and Dunseverick, St Patrick's and St Andrew's, Coleraine and Dunluce Parish, Bushmills. This Partnership called Gathered- A Partnership Ministry, (also known as Gathered Ministries), seeks to reach those with littk or no church connection through a range of activrties including wntemporary worship services a direct focus on meeting the spiritual needs of young people. Gathered Ministries also provides Bibl8 StLbdy, and an opportunty for young people to explore their faith and engage in Christian fellowship through various social and creative activrties.
St Paul's, Kildollagh 2. Pastoral Care Particular emphasis is placed on providing pastoral care for those living alone or who are otheDNise isolated through illness, age or other circumstances. Sickness included both physical and mental illnesses. Pastoral care needs have continued to increase both in terms of the numbers of individuals in need and the chroni¢ nature of those needs. In addition, the members of the Mothers, Union continued to provide a ministry of hospitalty and charitable support. The members provided knitted clothes for premature babies along with loilelry and essentials packs for emergency admissions to hosprtal. The members also provided essential personal Care items to the Coleraine Woman's Aid and other shelters. The members continued to support the work of the Mothers, Union in Ibba South Sudan. Aside from this focussed support the Branch also donated funds to support the general mission work of the Mothers, Union. The Mother's Union Branch comprises both Ballyrashane and Kildollagh Patishes and reaches out to other similar groups in the local area to enhance community cohesion. During the year the Mothers, Union worked with Gathered Ministnes to engage with young people and share cooking skills. There were a number of events designed to en¢ourage the gr¢)wth of posrtive inter- generational relationships wh1n a multi*enerational context and these were very successful. The Parish Crafters Group. wn in partnership wrth Ballyrashane Parish Church, continued tts varied activities This cross community group meets weekly and engages in prayer ministry as w811 as providing a forum for fellowship and creativty. The Craft group worked together to provide knitted and crocheted decorations for church seNices and also made grfts for the housebound and those in hospital. Pastoral care was provided by the Rector on an ongoiTrJ basis wrth over 500 hom8 and hospital visits made during the year. All paFtoral car8 provided was confidential and covered a wide range of social and life issues. The c08t of living ¢ri$is has raised particutar challenges in the local communty. The Parish responded by supporting the Foodbank in Ballymoney with donations of food and by providing Chrislmas food and care packs to 81d8rly parishionefs and those living in care homes. 3. Falth Nurturo and Education The church provides leaming and worship opportunities for children and young people $0 that they may grow in their knowledge of the Christian farth, their sense of communty and in the values shown by Jesus for the benefrt of all people. At the appropriate point in their development young people are offered the opportunity to engage in fvrther farth study and preparation to enable them to confirm their Baptismal promises wrth understanding and commitment and thus to become communicant members of the church. This opportunity is also offered to those over 18 years of age. During 2025 six adults from across the Partnership Panshes came forward for Confimation or reaffirmation with up to 12 young people commencirvJ their joumey t(Ytrvards Confimation. During 2025. in addition to faith nurture being prOVed through Sunday Club (primary school aged children), Gathered Ministries also enabled a number of young people in faith based residentials such as Summer Madness and Connor Takes the Castle vthere they had the opportunity to develop their faith in the company of hundreds of other young people from across the country or DI0Se. In addition, Gathered Ministries provided a Holiday Bible Club in July which attracted over 100 primary sch¢xJl age children and gave young people over 16 years of age opportunrties to develop leadership skills under the supeThision of a team of experienced adult youth leaders. These opportunities also farjlitated those young people who were VrkIj towards Duke of Edinburgh awards. In October 2025 various acts'vrties for children were also provided during the
St Paul's, Kildollagh weeklong half-term break. These activtties were open to all members of the community and had over 140 participants. In September 2025 Gathered- A Partnership Ministry (also known as Gathered Ministries) was fomally recognised as a Pioneer Ministry in the Church of Ireland which has provided grant funding for the next 5 years to help towards the cost of employing and training a full-time Pioneer Minister. As one of the principal aims of Gathered Ministnes is to encourage Christian fellowship and a sense of community, one of the Partner Parishes has provided a building in the centre of Coleraine for use by Gathered as a dropin ntre for young people and to create a safe space for young people and their families to meet and experience the Good News of Jesus through fellowship, hospitality and a range of activrties. The building required some renovation and rt is hoped that it wll be ready to open in the Spring of 2026 Provision for young p80ple in Bushmills is also being developed. The Coleraine and Bushmills hubs fomi the basis of outr8ach to young people and their families in the rural areas surrounding these tobvns. Gathered Ministries has proved that parishes working together can achieve greater benefits for those they seNe. Kildollagh Parish priorrtises th8 safety of the children and young people in our Ca and strictly adher8S to the child protedion requirements of Safeguarding Trust to ensure that all those working with children and young people and vulnerab18 adults are fully Checked through AC98 Nl, trained and supervised. The Parish's operation of Safeguarding Trust is subject to scrutiny and examination by the Di0san Compliance Team. Training in First Aid and Food Handling (Level 2> is also provided for volunteers. Kildollagh Parish also reaches out to provide cdlective worship in local schools. The Rector was the Church of Ireland representative on the Board of the Education Authority of Northem Ireland, vthich has a statutory obligation to provide for the Spiritual, moral, curtural. intellectual and physical development of children and young people. In March 2025 the Rector stepped down as she had completed the maximum tenure allowed by statute. The nomial tenure is 4 to 8 years but at the request of the Education Authorrty, Ihe nonnal period was extended by 2 yèars to the maximum allowable in view of her expertise and skills. Th8 Rector remains directly involved in education and is the Chair of the Board of Govemors of 1 Primary School and serves on the Board of Govemors of 1 other Primary and 1 Post Primary School and has Leen adive in encouraging school and church co-operation for the benefit of the children arKI the Gommunity. In addition to the Rector's work the Pioneer Minister developed a 'Smooth' workshop vthich he delivered in 3 lo1 primary schools to help P7 children transition to Post-pnmary education to help tackle anxiety particularly amongst those pupils moving from small rural schools lo much larger school settings. These interactive workshops were very well received and have been requested again next year. The contribution of the church to the advancement of education is seen as an important priority and èxpression of Christian service. Furthemore, such work is enraged by the Di0san Strategy for community engagement and is fully supported and facilitated by the Parish as it provides important benefits for all children and offers a way to a¢h out to the wider community. During the year the Rector was also appointed by the Bishop to the role of the Diocesan Warden of Readers. The purpose of this role is to encourage and facilitate the spiritual vocation of lay persons across the Diocese. DurirvJ 2025 two persons commenr2d training for lay preathing ministry and a further six were commissioned to assist vitih leading worship in their parishes. Kildollagh Parish contributed to the is work through its supp)rt and encouragement of the Rector. 4. Mlsslon and Outreach Kildollagh Parish has continued to Vrk in partnership with the people of Ibba in South Sudan. We are in the thirteenth year of our Partnership Agreement th the Diocese of Ibba confirming our
St Paul's, Kildollagh long term commitment to partnership working th this severely underdeveloped and war torn region of Africa. In September 2025 Kildollagh and Ballyrashane Parishes hosted the Right R8verend Wilson Kamani Bishop of Ibba Diocese and continued to support with prayer and financially the Bishop's work for peao and reconciliats'on. In addition the Parish also supports the work of the Church Missionary SocTrety of Ireland and various other charrties in helping to Share the love of Christ a0a. During the year the Parish, in partnership wth Ballyrashane Parish, Continued rts Parish Watch scheme in collaboration wrth Causeway Coast and Glens Council (Policing and Community Safety Partnership) to help improve ¢ommunty safety- this is a practical fo of outreach which benefits the whole communrty. Scam alerts Vre issued online and personal securrty advi communicated via the quarterly Parish Link magazjne and a Community Policing Partnership newsletter. Road safety awareness material was also issued and highlighted during a chur¢h service. The Parish Link Magazine was produced regularly to keep panshioners and others informed of important matters relating to church and also provided useful public service infomation and updates on our partnership with Ibba. Furthemiore. this magazine provides articl8s of a spiritual nature and prayers so that rt too supports our aim of Chnstian nurture. General communications regarding parish activities and servic88 are al80 communicated to parishioners and the public via th8 parish Facebook page. 5. Horltage Development In addition to maintaining the church buildings. the trustees also maintain the historic graveyard which, du8 to ils layout and topography requires considerable expenditure for grass CLthing and regular review and maintenance to ensure safe a¢cess. Where possible, this maintenance is completed on a voluntary basis by church membèrs but grass cutting and tree maintenance requires the engagement of specialist contractors who carry the required level of insurance. The Select Vestry has engaged the professional services of the Diocesan Surveyor to oversee Ihe restoration of the church roof which 1$ a long tem project. A Quinquennial Inspection of the church and Rectory was carried out in 2024 which confimied that the properties are being maintained lo good standard. The parish is wothing through a 5 year action plan for repairs and maintenan¢e. In 2025 stom) damage to the church, church hall and Rectory occasioned the need for additional repairs and also revealed that the Rectory roof will also need to be replaced thin th8 next 5 years. Essential ground work to improve access to graves in the lower graveyard was also completed. In order to improve and enhano the hentage benefft to the public the Parish established a Heritage Committee. This group completed a history of the church and Christian worship in the area, and updating Ihe asset and graveyard records which will benefit those engaged in genealogical research. The Heritage Group 11 cary out the same work for Ballyrashane Parish. Financial Review An account of the activities, govemance and management of the parish provided annually by the Seled Vestry {the Trustees) to the General Vestry and a vffitten Statement of Accounts is provided for all parishioners. During the year the parish fInanS are reported on by the Honorary Treasurer and monitored by the Select Vestry at regular intervals The parish accounts are subject to scrutiny by the Select Vestry, an Independent Examiner and the Diocese to ensure that the parish is meeting rts obligations efficiently and effectively. for the glory of God and the benefit of those it serves.
St Paul's, Kildollagh The parish accounts for the year ended 31 December 2025 show that the income for the year was £122,374.28 while expenditure was £81.381.97 resulting in a surplus of £40,992.31 of which £14,163 75 relates to Gathered Ministries. The Trustees consider Ihat this surplus reflects the prudent management of church finances in financially challenging b'mes. At the end of the year Current cash assets total £296,255.40 of which £15.755.69 relates to Gathered Ministries. The Trustees review the cash assets on a regular basis. takin9 into account available interest rates and projected cash requirements and assess investment opportUn'eS accordingly. The Church building, grounds and Rectory are all vested in the Representative Church B¢Jdy. Whilst these assets do not belong to the Parish. the S81ect Vestry r8main$ responsible for their maintenanc8 arKI upkeep. Going Concern The Trustees have reviewed the budgets for th8 year ahead and are satisfied that there are adequate funds in place to ensure that Ihe Parish can continue rts activities and the financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2025 can be signed off as a going concern. The trustees wish to express their gratitude to all who supported the work of the Kiklollagh Parish during 2025. Structure, governance and management Governlng Document and Con$titutlon of the Charlty In all structures, govemance and management, Kildollagh Parish complies with the requirements of the Constitution of the Church of Ireland vthich govems Panshes and Parochial organisation. The Parish also complies wth the Diocesan Ru16s Regulations for Connor Diocese which are derived from the Constitution of the Church of Ireland and govern local practice. The Select Vestry members are the Charity Tru8tea8. Gathered Ministri88 is govemed by a Memorandum of Understanding and Protocols that have been agreed and signed by all the Partner Parishes.. As a recognised Pioneer Ministry it complies with the requirements of the Constitution of the Church of Ireland. The Select Vestries of the Partner Parishes are Trustees of Gathered Ministries but delegate the operation of mission and ministry to the Gathered Partnership Committee which comprised the Incumbents or appointed representative (who rnust be a Trustee) and the Pioneer Minister in training. Responsibility for oversight of the fInanS and assels of Gathered is delegated to the Gathered Partnership Finance Committee which comprises the incumbents of the partner parishes or their Trustee nominee and the Honorary Secretaries of the Partner Parishes. Partner Parishes are designated to act as leads for various operational asFects of Gathered Ministries. Kildollagh Parish is the lead for finance and employment. As partnership working is itself pioneering, Gathered is VK•rkiThJ bNith the Diocese and the Pioneer Council of the Church of Ireland to develop its strudures and govemance Recruitrnent and Appointment of Select Vestry (Trustees) All members of the church who are aged 18 years or over, subscribe to the parish funds in a way that is identrfiable and are either resident within the parish or Ir¥e elsewhere but have been accustomed members of the congregation for at least 3 months are encouraged to register as members of the General Vestry of the parish. The regislered members of the General Vestry annually elect the persons to serve as members of the Select Vestry. With the exception of the ergy serving in the parish, the Select Vestry hold their positions for a period of one year. Select Vestry rn8mbers may be re-nominated or re*lected annually and there is no limrt to the number of terms which may be served. The date of the annual election of the Select Vestry must fall vnthin period not earlier Ihan hventy days before arKI not later than tsventy days after Easter Day.
St Paul's, Kildollagh The Select Vestry consists of the incumbent. the Church Wardens, {one nominated by the in¢umbenl and one elected by registered members of the General Vestry) the Gleb8 Wardens (one nominated by the incumbent and one ewed by the registered memters of the General Vestry) and not more than twelve other persons elected by the registered members of the General Vestry). Quorum For each meeting of th8 Select Vestry to prooed to business rt must be established from the chair that there is a quorum of not less than hall of the voting membership of the Select Vestry. Pay and Rèmuneration With the exception of the Redor. no prrvate benefrt is reived by trustees in fuillIng their trustee responsibilities in respect of the aims and purposes of the church. The Rector receives from the parish the level of stiP8nd approved and set by the Diocese tcyther with expenses payable under the regulations of the General Synod of the Church of Ireland in respect of the dutl8S that she is required to fulfil as incumbent. For the Year Ended 31 Decomb•r 2025 Gr088 Stipend Locomolory Expenses Office Expenses £19,203 less £1,646 (Employee contributson to Clergy Pension Scheme) £ 3,500 £ 463 The Rector is enrolled in the Clergy t)efined Contribution Pension Scheme for the Church of Ireland. The Clergy portion of the pension contrilxrtions are deduded from her Gross Stipend prior to payment as shown above. The Rector is required by the Congtrtution of the Church of Ireland to be residenl in the Rectory so that she may be contacted at any time and fulfil the pastoral, teachiNJ, preparation and administrative duti88 of her office. The Rectory is also used for parish meetin9s, a8 the parish office and as a repository of parish supplwJ and records. The Rector pays, without reimbursement from the parish. all heatirKJ, IwJMing and telecoms bills in full. All fumiture, fixtures and frttings in the Rectory (wrth the exception of the carpets and cooker) and all office equipment (wrth the exception of the photocopier and the church laptops), were supplied by the Rector and remain her sole property One church laptop is used by the Rector and parishioners as the need arises such as running the audio visual SeNiS in church. A second church laptop is used by the parish administrator exclusively for church business. If any private benefit arises from the Rectorfs residence rt is fully accounted for as required by HMRC with any liability being met by the Rector. Consequently any private benefrt arising to the Rector is incidental and contributes directly and essentially to the parish in achieving its charitable aims and purposes. Organisational Structure The Select Vestry 1$ respK)nsible for the day to day management of the Parish and general oversight of Gathered Ministries whose VKJrk is integral lo each of the partner parishes. The Select Vestry, elected al the General Vesty, consists of the Rector. the Churchwardens, the Glebe wardens and generally not more than 12 other memtrers of the General Vestry. The Select Vestry is chaired by the Rector {Incumbent). Select Vestry members are responsible for making decisions on matters of general concem arKI importance to the Parish induding how parish funds will be applied. The Select Vestry meets at times fixed by the members or by the Diocesan Synod. Special meetings may be convened at any time by the Chairperson or Churchwardens. The Church io
St Paul's, Kildollagh Wardens, Glebe Wardens and Select Vestry Members are elecied annually at the General Easter Vestry meéting and serve as the Trustees of the charity. Safeguardlng Trust The Rector and Select Vesty ensure that a properly constituted panel comprising the Rector and two other unrelated individuals have been trained to overse8 the operation of the Child S8f8guarding Tnist Policy. This Panel, a Sucommittee of the Select Vestry, reports to the Select Vestry on all matters relating to child safeguarding The Select Vesty is also responsible for ensuring that the Parish complies vh the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Policy and that volunteers and clergy are trained approwately. These reqU1MentS also apply to Gathered Ministries whose safeguarding Panel comprises members of the parish panels.. During 2025 Kildollagh was lead parish for Gathered Ministries Safeguarding but this responsibilty wll b8 transferring to Ballintoy Parish in 2026. All volunteers, clergy and Parish Panel members receive regular training in rdation to Child Safeguarding as required by the policy The Select Vestry is required to carry out an annual audit and rewl of Safeguarding compliance and submit it to the Diocese for examination. There were no Safeguarding issues of concem to report for the parish or Gathered Ministries and the Select Vestry remains commrtted to regular scrutiny of its procedures. The Select Vestry also ertsure that church premises are kept clean and in good repair for the benefit of all users. Goneral Data Prot•cllon Regulatlons The Select Vestry has ensured strict Comlance with the General Data Protection Regulations. There were no data breaches.
