Galliagh Communty Development Group is an unincorporated organisation and accepted as eharitsble
by HMRC under reference 102906. The charity was established under a constitution vthich sets out the
objects and powers.
Galliagh Community Development Group Is govemed by the Trustees. The organisalion is managed on
a day to day basis by a senior management team as appointed by the Trustees. The Trustees meet
regularty and are appointed by the members of the AGM. A senior management team manages the day
to day adivities of the organisalion, and ￿portS on organisatsonal perfomiance to all trustee meetings.

The principal •ctNty of the charity is the support and promotson of any charitable purpose for the relief
of poverty, advancement of education or any other charitable purpose for the benefit of the community
who live or work in the area of benefiL Galliagh Communty Development GroLtp provides a range of
5eNices through four main projects.
Good Mornlng North Wo8t IGMNW)
GMNW service provides befriending services to 284 older and vulnerable users wth daily telephone
Gontact and outreach services such as home visits and referrals. The primary focus is to assist with
healthcare needs, address isolation and fear of crime, help reduce povety through tenefit UPl8ke and
actively encourage participats'on in projects and prograrnmes within the community.
Communlty Malnt•nan¢•lCommunlty S•f•ty ICMICS)
CMICS provides free direct services lo users of the Good Moming North Wesl service such as grass
cutty"ng. rubbish removal, moving of hjmiture. checking of smoke alams and outside lights etc. This
service is also available to others wthin the local community on request.

Galliagh Communty Development Group provides gener81 and Specialist benefits advice, advocacy and
tribunal representstive services wthin the Weslem Health and Swal Care Trust area for oncology

A summary of the main achievements is provided below..
1. Galliagh Communty Development over this last year has maintalned its services through Good
Moming Northwest, Macmillan Welfare and Benefits and the Communrty Maintenan¢elSafety Initiative.
2. Galliagh Community Development Group provided advice, information and advocacy to 1005 clients
and signposted 121 others through the Macmillan Team in Altnagelvin Hospital, clients who accessed
the service have had a totsl gained in benefit income of £3,267,157.36, this figure is cumulative
Ihroughoul the year.
3. Good Moming North West made 49,602 calls to seNice users during 2017 and ￿ceiVed just over
6,201 incoming calls from clients on various issues.
During 2017 Galliagh Communty Development Group participated in meeb'ngs lo discuss the Linear
Park development in Galliagh. We also attended a public conSU￿ation and an open day lo liaise wth
people from the community.
Good Moming Nothwest in conjundon with GMNI parti¢spaled In a Queens University survey lo assess
the impact our services have on clienys lives. We ￿ceiVed an extremety comprehensive report which
reflected the positive benefits our service provide5 to clients 8nd their families.
Galliagh Community Development has continued to engage with Outer North and a number of other
community groups within Ihe Galliagh area on the new build communty centre. The drawings have now
been submitted for planning approval and we are currenuy going through an economic appraisal. The
new building will give us the opportunrty to add additional elements to the Servi￿ we currently provide
such as training courses, coffee mornings for Clients and wll enable us to bring in extra volunteers.
The DFC have lunded our project throughout 2017
4. Communty Malntanancelcommunity Safety Services were provided to 287 households throughout
the year this equates to a figure of 1148 individual visits. CMICS has also been provided lo people who
are not currently on our call list but wanted to avail of the service. Halifax provided the running costs of
this programme during 2017 and in previous years this has been invaluable in respect of providing this
essentsal programme to our clients.
5. Galliagh Community Development Group kept its current stsffing level an¢J maintained rts currenl
volursleer base across all ils Services throu9hout the year.
6. Galliagh Community Oevelopment Group have successfully registered with the Charity Commission
for Northern Ireland referefi￿ number NIC 102906 and maintained its mernber5hip of NICVA, Law
Centre and Advice Nl. We are also registered wth the Infomiation Commissioners Officer, reference
number Z363446X.

Total incoming resources for the year were £106,654 of which 100% was generated from grants and
contracts. Totsl resources expended by the chanty were £101,408. Approximately 97.9QA of this was
expended on d1￿ct charitable activities and 2.1 % on govemance costs. The balance on total funds at
the year*nd was £16,326.
Reser¥es Pollcy
The TTUStees consider it prudent to hold monies in reserve in the event that unforeseen cirr#Jm$tsnces
should lead to financial difficulties which might put the future of its employment capa¢ity, users, well-
being and general charitable Work in jeopardy.

examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission

These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with FRS 102. 'The Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.. the Ststement of
Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (Charities
SORP IFRS 1021) and the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
