Audltor's responsibililies for the audit of the financial statements
Our objectives are to obl8ln reasonabl8 assurance about whelher the financlal statements as a whole
are frae from matei'ial misstalement, wh8lher due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor's ￿port Ihat
includes our opinion. Reasonable assuranco is a high leval of assurance. but is not a guarantee that
an audit conducted in accordance with ISAS (UK) will always delect a material misstalemenl wh8n it
exists. Misstatemenls can arise from fraud or error and are considered material if, individually or in the
aggregate. they could reasonably be expected to influence Ihe economic decisions of users taken on
the basis of these financial statements.
Irregularlties, including fraud, are Instances of non<ompliance with la￿￿ and regulations. We deslgn
procedures in line with our responsibilities, outlined above. to detect material misstatements In respect
of Irregularities, including fraud. The extont to which our proc6dur8s are capable of detecting
irregularities, including fraud is detailed below..
As part of the audit process we obtained an underslanding of the legal and regulatory framework
applicable to the entity, being FR102, Companies Act 2006 the UK taxation regime and compliance
with regulations in relalion to the Coronavirus Jobs Retention Scheme and th8 Coronavirus Business
Interruption Schem8. In addition, w8 assess8d th8 risks of mat8rial fraud through enquir6S With
management and those charged with corporate govemance and analytical procedures were used to
assess any unusual or or unexpected relationships. As with all organisation of this size, there remains
an Inherent dlfficulty In the detection of irregularities.
A further description of our responsibilities for the audit of financial statements is located on the FRC'S
websitè at www.frc.org.uklauditorsresponsibilities
As part of an audit in accordance with ISAS (UK). we exercise professional judgment and maintain
professional scepticism throughout the audit. We also:
Identify and assess the risks of material misstatement of the financial statemenls, whether due to
fraud or error, design and perform audit procedures responsive to those risks, and obtain audit
evidence that is suffici8nt and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion. The risk of not
detecting a material misstatement resulting from fraud is higher than for one resulting from error,
as fraud may involve colluslon. forgery. intentional omissions, misrepresentations, or the override
of Internal control.
ObtaSn an understanding of Internal conlrol relevant to the audit in order to design audit
procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, bul not for Ihe purpose of expressing an
opinion on the effectiveness of the intemal control.
Evaluate the appropriateness of accounting pollcles used and the reasonableness of accountlng
estimates and related disclosures made by the trustees.
Conclude on the appropriateness of the truslees, use of the going concem basis of accounling
and. based on the audit evidence obtained, whether a material uncertainly exists related to
events or conditions that may cast significant doubt on the charity's ability to continue as a going
concem. If we conclude thal a material uncertainty exists. we are required lo draw attention in
our auditor's report to the related disclosures in the financial statements or, if such disclosures
are inadequate, to modify our opinion. Our conclusions are based on the audit evidence oblained
up to the date of our auditor's report. However, future events or conditions may cause the charity
to cease to continue as a going concern.
Evaluate the overall presentation. structure and content of the financial statoments, induding the
disclosures, and whether the financial statements repres8nt the underlying transactions and
events in a manner that achieves fair presentation.
