Objectives & Activities
Summary of the Objectives of the Charity as set out in its Governing Document:
The Association is established to advance religion, relieve poverty, hardship and distress and for the benefit of the public on the Donegall Road and its environs of Belfast City Centre (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”), with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said public and in particular:
a) to promote the Christian faith in benefit through evangelism, prayer events and meeting and street outreach activities.
b) to aid people within the area of benefit who are deemed to be homeless or sleeping rough or who are suffering from chemical dependence on alcohol or other drugs or from illness infirmity or disability connected with such chemical dependence through the provision of food, clothing and counselling;
c) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the Committee may, from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.
Summary of the Main Activities Undertaken for the Public Benefit in Relation to the Charity's Objects:
-
As part of our effort to thank the NHS and appreciate frontline workers for their incredible work during the Covid-19 pandemic, we distributed useful items to frontline health workers at two major hospitals in Belfast
-
We provided regular online catch-up meetings to support those who were lonely and could not be visited by families to help their mental wellbeing during this period.
-
Online programs were made available to children to help them interact with others within their age groups.
-
Some people with accommodation challenges were given support by the charity.
-
We also partnered with charities outside our community to support people in need, most especially in area of food supplies.
-
In December 2023, food items and Christmas gifts were given to people in our community to ensure we all share the love of Christmas together.
Achievements & Performance
Statutory Declaration
The trustees declare that they have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the commission in exercising their powers or duties.
Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity for the Year:
We have a centre which we provide counselling and provide information, e.g., we use the centre for counselling and as a distribution point for all the food we distribute to various individuals in need.
We also ran a street outreach programme which currently involves going out on the streets on a Friday evening in groups to show care and love to people sleeping rough in the street and to provide basic essentials.
This is all evidenced through numbers of people that we have helped. We plan in the future to develop a Training and Learning programme and a drop-in centre/Cafe where people can meet and talk about their problems and we also plan to reach out to the sick.
Financial Review
Brief Statement of the Charity's Policy on Reserves:
It is the policy of Christ Foundation Christian Ministry to hold in reserves the equivalent of two months general running costs. It is also our policy to hold an amount for likely outreach works at the next inspection. In view of the forthcoming street retreat with religious music next year we have allocated £2000 to reserves to cover our involvement. This policy will be reviewed in twelve month’s time apart from the Learning and training project element which will be reviewed in six months time when the situation is clearer.
