## **TRUSTEES REPORT – FINANCIAL YEAR April 2016 / March 2017** 

The following is the annual report from the Trustees of Community of The King Trust. 

## **Financial Matters** 

A detailed statement of accounts has been prepared and submitted separately as part of the reporting procedure. 

With regard to the year-end accounts it is noted that: 

- Overall income from members’ contributions has declined over the last few years.  This is mainly due to the decreasing number of members 

- However, income in the year 2016-2017 was boosted significantly by Gift Aid received for the previous 3 years. 

- Due to the reduced overheads of running the Trust it was felt that we did not need to maintain an overall balance of more than £3,000 in the Bank account. 

- We ended the year with a deficient of £2062 but with a closing balance of £3,874 in the Bank Account. 

Overall the draft accounts were accepted without modification at the Trustees Meeting on 30[th] January 2018 and it was agreed to carry forward the accumulated balance. 

## **Objects of the Trust** 

Following review, the Trustees consider that the objects of the trust are still appropriate.  The objects are outlined below along with example(s) of how these have been addressed in the past financial year. 

To advance the Christian Religion in the Country of Ireland area and elsewhere by: 

_1._ Conducting meetings, lectures, seminars, concerts, holiday camps and conferences together also with whatever other formats as may seem appropriate to the Trustees for the purpose of Religious Education. 

_We continued to meet monthly between the months of September and June. At these meetings we would worship, study the bible and have teaching.  We would also take some time to pray for the needs of members, their families and friends._ 

_2._ Training leaders for the propagation of the Christian Religion. 

   - _Examples of this would be our support of a number of our members who are currently undertaking training at the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in Redding, California and support for a member to undertake an Evangelism course in Belfast._ 

- 3  Engaging in youth work including the organisation of youth clubs, recreational projects and training schemes for young people. 

   - _In the past year this has mainly been though our support, mentioned above, for young people to engage in training courses which give them opportunity to work with Youth and also our support of a Church Army worker in North Belfast._ 

4.  The distribution of Christian books, pamphlets, magazines and tapes. 

_We have no direct examples of this in the current year being reported on._

5.  By the promotion of interest in Ireland in Christian Missionary Work whether said Missionary Work is in Ireland or elsewhere. 

_Examples include the support of_ 

   - _Missionaries in their work with Light Patrol, who work supporting Homeless Young People in Toronto._ 

   - _An evangelist working with Church Army in North Belfast_ 

   - _Support for The Blue House – an outreach of Youth For Christ in Ballysillan, Belfast._ 

   - _Missionaries who undertook work in Tanzania with YWAM_ 

6.  Interpreting the Christian Faith into practical everyday experience. 

_In our monthly meetings we have had talks and discussions to help explain the Christian Faith_ 

7. Providing visiting speakers. 

_Visiting speakers at our meetings to discuss the work of Transformations Ireland, Church Army, reports from Bethel school of Supernatural Ministry and a report on a Mission Trip to Africa_ 

8.  Giving to the poor or those in need and/or supporting organisations/charities whose aims are the relief of the poor and needy. 

_We gave a gift to Solas Trust._ 

We believe that the above objectives and statement as to how we met them in the last year is compatible with our statement of Public Benefits as Registered. 

The Leadership Team and Trustees will continue to review regularly the Objects and Public Benefits of the Trust. 

## **Future Activity** 

In the incoming year we anticipate continuing our pattern of holding a regular monthly meeting for the support and encouragement of members.
