OBJECTIVES AND ACTivrriES
Objectives and sims
The company's objectives and purposes are for the promotiotL preservation and protection of physical and mental health
and i4'ell-being, education of. but not restricted lo. social skills. the relief of poverty. hardship and sickness of
inhabitants of the tlie Belfast area and otFter areas of Northern Ireland in particular, but not exclusively without
distinction of age. gender, disability, sexual orientstion. nationalily.etlinic idenlily. political or religious opinion. by
associating the statutory authorities, cotnmunity and voluntary organisations #nd the inhabitants in a common effort lo
advance education. healih and relief of poverty and hardship and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare
for recreation or other leisure
time occupation. with the object of improvino the conditions of life for the said
inhabitants and in particuler:
(i) to relieve suffering and promote the the preservation and protection of mental health of those people and their
families in the area of benefit ivho are sufferints OT experiencing mental or emotional distress and anouish as a result of
Inental illness. emottonal disability, drug and alcohol addiction. social andlor economic circumstances, domestic abuse
andlor violence and difficulties in their personal lives by the provision of counselling. education, treahnent and
prevention projecls-
(li) to promote. or assist in promoting coinmunity capacity buildii)g programmes and projects for the benefit of the
inhabitants wiihin the area of benefit ivho have need of such assistance as a result of their youth, Lne, disability or
infirmity, or social and economic circumstances, in an effort to i11cre￿e tlie abilities. life skills aiid self confidence of
such communities in the area of benefit-
(iii) to relieve persons in conditions of need, homelessness, hardsliip, distress or sickness arisino t5ierefroTll whether in
connection with housing or accommodalion or shelter or any other purposes in the Belfast area and in 5ucli other parts
of Northern Ireland. in particular bul not exclusively as the trustee directors may from time to time decide in accordance
with the law of charity-
(iv) to engaoe in relief projects and iii the provision of resources. training and financi21 support to assist those in
poverty, suffering and distress in the area of benefit in an effort to improve Iheir quality of life-
(v) to increase tlie use of churches, relief oruani5ations and individuals in the delivery of exclusively charitable services
to tlie poor and needy in the area of benefit-
(vi) to advance any other exclusively charitable pU￿oSe as the trustee directors. may from time to time. decide tn
accordance with the law of charity.
The Tyuslees have read and iaken regard OF the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on Public Benefit
and on Public Benefit reporting.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial position
The re5uIt5 for the year ended 31 January 2024 are set out on pages 4 ai)d 5 of the financial statements. The total income
for tlie year ended i l January 2024 aniounlcd to £6.92? (2023- 6.325). Thc majority of incomc rcccivcd in botli years
was donations Teceived.The charily held £12.041 in cash reserves at the year end (2023 £20,5J7). This equates to
approximately one year of tho charity's charitable expenditure at CU]Tent rates. The trustees are reviewing Ilie reserves
policy in the current year.
