Ballinderry War Memorial Hall Management Committee
Year ending 31[st] December 2023
Ballinderry War Memorial Hall Management Committee continue to work towards their principal aim which is to restore, regenerate, maintain and manage the Ballinderry War Memorial Hall for the purpose of improving the wellbeing of the inhabitants of Ballinderry and the surrounding area.
Since the finance required to renovate the Ballinderry War Memorial Hall cannot be achieved by fund raising alone, the Management Committee continue to explore Grant opportunities and have been successful in securing grants amounting to £55,285 in 2023.
From previous grant funding of £40,000 received from Deara Rural Halls Refurbishment Scheme, and £10,000 received from the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Community Facilities Fund, all the windows in the Hall have been repaired and the external doors have been replaced.
It is now estimated that the cost of refurbishment will be in the region of £800,000.
Because of the greater amounts of finance that are now being processed the Management Committee have sought legal advice on the possibility of becoming a Company Limited by Guarantee, but after consideration, have decided against this route.
Plans are being prepared for special celebrations in 2024 as this will be the 100[th] anniversary of the Hall. The Hall was officially opened 7[th] November 1924.
The Management Committee of Ballinderry War Memorial Hall are indebted to all who give of their time and expertise to support this project. The Committee will continue to work towards the renovation and refurbishment of the Hall, to provide the people of the Ballinderry area with a meeting place to get together with others to enjoy social interaction, to take part in activities of a social and recreational nature, to address rural isolation and to enhance the health and wellbeing of the local population.
