Period February 2022 – December 2022

Ballinderry War Memorial Hall Management Committee continue to work towards their principal aim which is to restore, regenerate, maintain and manage the Ballinderry War Memorial Hall for the purpose of improving the wellbeing of the inhabitants of Ballinderry and the surrounding area.

Since the finance required to renovate the Ballinderry War Memorial Hall cannot be achieved by fund raising alone, the Management Committee continue to explore Grant opportunities and have been successful in securing the following funding:

It is now estimated that the cost of refurbishment will be in the region of £800,000.

The Management Committee continue to seek funding opportunities and are conscious of the need to attract large funders such as the Heritage Lottery Fund

Meetings continue with Department of Communities, Deara, Architectural Heritage Fund and Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council. The Management Committee are now members of NICVA, TADA, and the Heritage Network Trust.

7 members of the Committee have completed training and have been successful in obtaining OCN Level 1 Developing and Managing Community Facilities.

Because of the greater amounts of finance that are now being processed the Management Committee are seeking legal advice on the possibility of becoming a Company Limited by Guarantee.

Things have been more normal this year after Covid, which has enabled the annual programme of events to be resumed e.g. Remembrance Service, Christmas Tree Lights etc.

The Management Committee of Ballinderry War Memorial Hall are indebted to all who give of their time and expertise to support this project. The Committee will continue to work towards the renovation and refurbishment of the Hall, to provide the people of the Ballinderry area with a meeting place to get together with others to enjoy social interaction, to take part in activities of a social and recreational nature, to address rural isolation and to enhance the health and wellbeing of the local population.
