TRUSTEES’ REPORT YEAR ENDING 31 DECEMBER 2023

Structure, Governance and Management

Nendrum College PTA is a charity that is run by a committee elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. The committee currently consists of a Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. The three elected members are also the Trustees of the charity. Other members help with the practical arrangements of the charity. Our full PTA membership includes all parents/careers of children currently enrolled in the school and all staff currently employed in the school. Some parents of leavers have also been co-opted into membership. All members are volunteers. The PTA works in very close connection with the College Principal and staff.

We are registered as a charity with the Charity Commission for NI (registration NIC102828).

Overall, we are a fundraising organisation, but an important part of our role is also strengthening and encouraging the home/school relationship, where teachers and parents work together to support and enhance the education of our children.

Our governing document is the constitution which was adopted on 13 February 2014.

Objectives and Purpose

The purpose of the PTA is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by:

The committee and members meet during the year to manage the affairs of the PTA, and to discuss and organise fundraising events.

Activities, Achievements and Outcomes in 2023

The fundraising year has allowed us to run our popular core events of a Quiz Night, Halloween Disco and our Indoor Winter Market which was very well attended and profitable. We also held a Music/Drama evening in December which the PTA supported by providing refreshments afterwards and purchasing the costumes. We promoted Easyfundraising UK online and through correspondence to our parents encouraged them when doing a grocery shop to log in, select your store and once completed the school receiving a %. We also promoted Stickin Labels allowing parents to purchase for uniforms,

accessories and again the school received a % back. We are currently involved in the “Blue Token Scheme” through Tescos and if selected we will receive a cash donation to the school.

We also supplied a number of items for our staff which will benefit the needs of the pupils too:- Maths Books, School Formal, Merits/Accelerated Reader/Pupil of Month awards, Sporting award badges, Custom made Tablecloth for Prize Day and finally through our Teacher Request Forms:- Hard Drives for computers, Shared Education Year 9 Trip, iPad keyboard cases and a Projector.

Accounting

The PTA recorded an income of £2,155.92 and an expenditure of £2,055.71. The PTA holds no assets or liabilities.

Special thanks go to Frances Wills who has worked exceptionally hard gaining and maintaining local business support for all our fundraising events. We also acknowledge the hard work of all PTA members. Finally, we would like to thank the teacher representative and all parents and friends of Nendrum College for their continued support and generosity.

Signed on behalf of the trustees:
