Trustees Report 01/10/2021 to 30/09/2022
The alm of Naiscoil Dhun Padraig is to enhan￿ the devek)pment and education of children (24
age group) through Ihe medium of Irish by encouraging parentslguardians to understsnd and
provide for the needs of their children by: . a. Offering appropriate play facilities, with the right of
parentslcarers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the Naiscoil,
ensuring that the we offer opportunities for all children, regardless of religion, culture, race or
means. b. Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and promoting
public interest in and recognition of such needs of such children and their families in the local
areas.
The trustees have had regard to the Commission's Public benefit requirement and statutory
guidan￿ throughout the year and in all activities carried out. We were not obligated to make
Charity Commissioner returns for the years ending 3010912019 & 3010912020 & 3010912021 as we
were registered before 2019 according to Charity Commissioners rules.
Our financial position is volatile at the end of the year. We continue to be funded by govemment
agencies, mainly Education Authority and Earty Years Pathways. Qur premises was put up for
sale and we had to vacate Teach Micheal, on Irish Steet. We took up a temporary residence in
the Scouts Den on Russell Park Ave in Downpatrick. The rent is very expensive and about 3
times our previous rent. We hope to be moving to a new premises as soon as possible. The
Naiscoil trustees have remained the same throughout the year.
This year has not been as successful as previous years with Covid and the premises change.
We have seen a reduction in our income and child attendance numbers have dropped. Several
activities were held which involved the families and the children together. This was a benefit to
those involved.
We will continue to do our best for the Naiscoil children into Ihe next year.
