HOPE MAGHERAFELT Trustees Annual Report For the year ended 31" December 2023 The Trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 31" De￿rnber 2023. Objectives and Activities In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year, the Trustees have considered the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit, to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity's purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries. Hope Magherafelt aims to senie the local community, through local authorities and other organisations, in a collective effort to relieve poverty, advan￿ education and provide facilities with the intent of improving the conditions of the community in areas of need and short-term crisis. Taking a holistic approach, we care for the physical, mental and emotional needs of individuals and families we meet. As a Christian charity. we are also interested in supporting people's spiritual needs. 2023 saw the charity move to new premises allowing for all the charity activities to be delivered under one roof. After receiving the keys in May 2023, work began on the property to make it a safe and suitable environment for moving in September 2023. Hope Hub Based at 78 Rainey Street, Magherafelt, our HUB is our new centre from where all our projects operate. It is a cafe style environment that has been designed to be a relaxing and welcoming space for all who avail of our projects. We hope this space will be utilised in various other ways as we grow and develop the charity. Foodbank Open Tuesdays and Fridays 11.30-1 pm and Tuesday evening 7-8pm, we provide 3 days emergency food parcels for families and individuals in crisis, living in the Magherafelt area and surrounding towns. Part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks we support those familieslindividuals who for various reasons, are financially unable to buy their own. People are referred by front line care professionals such as social workers, health visitors, advice agencies, debt projects, or can self-refer by calling in. Vwhile they are receiving food, we provide a listening ear, and our volunteers help identify avenues of other support needed and will connect people to this support. CAP debt counselling Our CAP Debt Centre supports people across the Mid-ulster area which spans Magherafelt, Cookstown and Dungannon districts. Part of the UK award-winning charity, Christians Against Poverty (CAP) we provide a free service which supports anyone struggling with debt and can be accessed by calling the CAP Debt Helpline on 0800 328 0006. Once an appointment has been made, our local CAP Debt Centre manager, will then make contact and commence the three-step appointment process. Your personalised plan will start either in the comfort of your own home or at our Hub, where our debt coach and CAP befriender will support and joumey with you throughout the process. Money Coaching Money Coaching is a service that is designed to empower people with the knowledge, skills, tools and confidence to better manage their finances. Designed by CAP, this can either be delivered in a group setting or one to one. 2of19

Eat Well Spend Less This is a 6-week cooking and budgeting course that equips people with the skills to cook from scratch and on a budget. We explore what a healthy balanced diet is and learn practical cooking skills in a group setting that is fun and engaging. Achievements and Performance (including Impact and Benefits) Our foodbank and CAP projects continued to be our focus for most of 2023, with limited staff and the work needing completed on the new buildinglmoving in. We welcomed a new member of staff to the charity in Oct 2023, who took over the running of the foodbank project which was a great resour￿ of support. Notable Achievements for 2023. We were supported by 41 regular volunteers who gave approximately 2,529 hours (316 working days) of their time to our charity. We fed 1227 people - 736 Adults and 491 Children. We collected 8.7 tonnes of food. We distributed 14.7 tonnes of food - approximately 40 thousand meals. We supported 16 new cases, with an estimated combined total debt of approximately £384k. We provided 448 (approx. 30 mins) support sessions to people we met throughout all our projects. CHRISTMAS In addition to our regular services, the following projects took place over the Christmas period in partnership with 20 different referral partners: We created and distributedldelivered 385 Christmas Hampers. We wrapped & distributed 524 pairs of Christmas pyjamas. We continued to focus on our 2 main projects - Foodbank and CAP Debt help from the beginning of the year as we continue to try and recruit for another member of staff. During this time, we were excited to sign a new lease for our first ever property. that would allow all our projects to be under one roof. Work to make the building safe and habitable took from May - Sept 23. (see photos below of transformation). BEFORE AFTER Page3of 19

With our own space for the first time, we were able to increase our foodbank distribution sessions, adding an evening session for those working families who needed our support. We spent the end of the year focusing on our Christmas project, launching the building with a community open day in November, hosting our volunteers for a volunteer celebration evening and started to focus some attention on strategic planning for the charity for the future. It is our experience that both of our main projects continue to encounter familieslindividuals with increasingly more difficult situations, therefore requiring more time & support over a longer period. To help manage these difficult situations effectively, we continue to strengthen our relationships with referral partners. This allows for a more co-ordinated approach, providing stronger and more holistic support for those connected to our projects. 4of19

Financial Review We constantly strive to bring benefit to our community by proactively sourcing funding or other support and help. During 2022, the continued financial support received from Trussell Trust, Mid Ulster District Council, local businesses and individuals, along with gifts-in-kind were very much appreciated during what has continued to be an uncertain and challenging time.
