CHAIRPERSONS REPORT
The last few years have been difficult for Cane and Able because of the coronavirus
and the numerous restrittions and lockdown5 that we experienced throughout this
period. From September 2021 we continue to meet online on a Tuesday morning
each week, where members could call to chat and exchange news, this allowed us
to keep in touch and support each other.
As the coronavirus eased, we thought about meeting up again, following some
discussion with Una Mulgrew { RNIB } and ABC Community Network, it was decided to
approach the Council for use of a room in the Old Portadown Townhall. From 15
March 2022, we started to rneet face-to-face each Tuesday with our members. This
allowed us to continue wtth some of our activities for our members, along with a cup
of tea and a chat.
Since we didn't have our annual Christmas dinner we decided to arrange hampers for
our mernbers. We hope to be able to hold our annual Christmas dinner next year.
We decided to change the taxi company we used as we need a service that was more
suitable for our members and their needs. We received money from the Macan Trust
which supported us in some of our activities this year.
We found this year a little less challenging than the previous year, although we did
continue our group with limited activities and finances, we were happyjust to find a
new venue to see each other face to face again. We hope 2022- 2023 is a betteryear
for Cane and Able and look forward to running at full capacity and providing those
much-needed activities to our members.
BENEFICIARIES
The charity's beneficiaries are blind and partially sighted people living in the
Craigavon and Banbridge area, their families, carers, friends, and the volunteers
who assist the Club.

ACHIEVEMENTS HOW A￿1VITIEs HAVE BENEFITED BENEFICIARIES
Objects:
The objects of the Club shall be to advance education and relieve disablement and
in particular to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for the recreation
and other leisure-time occupation of blind and partially sighted people in the
Craigavon and Banbridge areas of Northern Ireland (hereinafter called the area of

benefit") so that their conditions of life may be improved, enabling them to make
informed choices in relation to services available. Promote independence and
better integration into society of blind and partially sighted people. Promote the
physical, mental, and general well-being of blind and partially sighted people.
Benefits:
The Club has addressed feelings of loneliness and social isolation through the
promotion of social inclusion activities and peer group support. This has enabled
members to participate more fully in community life through their involvernent in a
wide variety of recreational activities and helping them access Social 5UPPOrt on a
weekly basis.
The club has promoted structured health and well-being activities and raised
awareness of the importance of health and wellbeing for members.
The Club has continued to raise awareness of the needs of blind and partially sighted
people in the Craigavon and Banbridge area among public bodies, service providers,
and statutory agencies..
FINANCIAL REVIEW AT END OF YEAR
The result5 for the year and the Charities. financial position at the end of the year
are set out in the Cane and Able Club Annual Accounts for 2021-2022. The
independent examiner5, report to the Trustees found that no material matters
have come to their attention.
RESTRICTIONS ON WHO CAN BENEFIT
There are no restrictions on who can benefiL
There are no restrictions based on personal characteristics.
There is a weekly membership fee of £3.
PUBLIC BENEFIT
The direct benefits which flow from our purposes include; improvement of
knowledge and skills of blind and partially sighted people; reduction in social
isolation and also peer- group support for members of the club; reduction in social
isolation through participating more fully in community life and being involved in a
wide variety of activities and raising awareness of the importance of health and
wellbeing for members, to empower members to take action on the multi
determinants of health, signposting to other relevant organisations and
networking.

There is no private benefit to any individual from any of our Purposes
