BTI 6JS OBJEcfivES & ACTIVITIES The object5 of this charity are to improve the quality of life for 311 residents of Carrowshee Park and Sylvan Hill and to make the area a better place to live. by encouraging the active involvement from all members of the community. without distinction of age. gender race. political or religiou5 opinion. The Association aims to provide facilities. services and activities in the interests of social welfare, education, health, recreation and the environment. Main activities.. Older people's "201W club: meetin8 weekly. providing a social outlet in warm and welcoming surroundings, have a chat and tea/coffee and a few wee treat5: activities include light exercise, dancing, games, menu planning and cookin& light gardenin& arts and crafts. run outings and trips, meet other similar groups, participate in cross-community. cross-border and cross generational projects. Youth activlties; weekly homework and youth clubs for all school-ages, offering a wide variety of general youth club activities and games. both indoor and outdoor. Members also participate In training and awareness sessions around relevant issues e.8. drugs and alcohol abuse. mental health and well-being, peer and gender issues, personal development and confidence building, ritness and healthy livin& intemet and personal safety including self-defence, gardening and plantin8 around the centre. growing and preparing food and c(x)king and budgeting. Each "term" finishes with relevant seasonal attivities and a recreational trip away. Summer holidays- a 4 V￿Ék summer activity scheme for primary school children. a one week scheme for pre-school children and a full 2 week activity scheme for post-primary children. May and June the Education Authority Youth Service provide training for some of OLtr 15+ ages to become young leaders with summer scheme. Young people are at all times encouraged to have their say in their activities and regular suggestions and feedback are sought so that we keep up-to- date with trends and issues that are relevant to them.

Digital trainin& First Aid training, Safeguarding training. Mother and Baby classes in massage and rhyme & chime activities, crafts training, information and safety events. provide venue for employment projetts and Mencap "sunshine" club for young adults with additional leaming needs. Our committee represents the area and its residents with relevant statutory bodies: NIHE, FODC, FRCN, Ed Authority, Policing ForLJm, EECP (Oak HLCI. PCSP. Department for Infrastructure Istreetlighting, Water & Sewage.Roads & Footpaths). ACCESS N.1. we facilitate a quarterly Inter- Agency meeting and a 2 monthly Health & Well-being forum. We work very closely with Supportin8 Communities N.1. and they provide us with invaluable assistance with training and Good Governance, Salary and wage5, facilitation of meetings and advice. ACHIEVEMENTS & PERFORMANCE Homework and Youth clubs. total 9 sessions weekly. totsl of 10.5 hours face-to-face youth work, 186 children registered. Clubs managed by the Carrowshee Park I Sylvan Hill Communitv Association, youth worker is employed 25 hours 3 week, grant aid from BBC Children in Need. 2 or 3 volunteers per session, average of 15 hours weekly per volunteer. All adult volunteers have been thecked through Access N.1. Summer activity schemes have been attended to full capacity 85-90 under Ils and 26 in the Il+ groups. Placement provided for a Youth Action Young Leader in training and a T-BUC United Champion for experience. Grants have been successfully sought. administered. projects carried out and monitoring and evaluations completed. Funded projects successfully completed e.g. Housin8 Executive Shared Communities Programme, Carrosyl Community Centre maintained in good condition. Carrosyl Oil Buying established and membership is high. saving 12% on 5Crf) litres. ICT classes run with 40 learners. FINANCIAL REVIEW Total receipts for the year have increased from £37,035 last year to £49,368 this year which is due to increased grant aid bein8 received.
