The trustees of the company are also charity Iruslees for the purpose of charity law and under the company's constitution are known as members of the board of Iruslees. In this report the Iruslees of The Saturday Club present a summary of ils purpose. governance, aclivilies. achievements and finances for the financial financial year 31 December 2024. The company is a registered charity and hence the Teport and results are presented in a foim which complies with the requirements of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 and. although not obliged to comply with the Slalernent of Recommended Pracliee applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland FRS 102, the organisalion has implemented its recommendations where relevant in these financial stalemenls. Mission, Objectives and Strategy Objectives The Saturday Club. fomied in 2002. provides social and leisure opportunities for children and young people with a learning disability, and their siblings. The dub enhances Ihe life skills in the children through a range of educational and creative activities, and environmental 8nd sports activities. The aim of the Club is to provide leisure and social opportunities and to encourage the personal and social development of Club members through thi5 range of activities. Through the clubs activities. the children and young people who attend learn new skills and develop Iheir social skills and interests. Very importantly allendance al the Club provides respite for parents and carers. The voluntary management of the Club and ils voluntary leadership and supervision during the Club sessions assists in drawing upon and developing the talents and skills that each volunteer brings to the Club. Public benefits: The public benefit of The Saturday Club is.. the development of children and young people with a learning disability by the provision of help and support for them through an extensive programme of social and leisure activities that contribute lo their personal and social development. Whilst doing so. support and respite is provided for their parents and carers, and for the public and wider population. knowledge of learning disability is also provided. These benefits are demonstrated through the increased Club membership and with referrals from social services. The feedback from parenlslcarers, siblings and the children themselves is what guides us in our work and we make certain that the Club is benefiling ils members through ensuring they influence the activities the Club lakes part in. Parents are also heavily involved in the committee lo guarantee they are well informed of what is happening. Of the private benefits flowing from the volunteering. one is that volunteers and trustees are getting excellent experien through their various roles. this Sn lum maybe benefitting them in their future or prospective careefs. Through the clubs activities and volunteer support and development, the club raisgs awareness of learning dlsability in the local area. Structure, Governance and Management Structure The Saturday Club is affiliated lo Mencap and their Model Constitution and Model Child Proleclion Policy for Mencap & Gateway groups in Northern Ireland have been adopted. Review of Actlvltles. Achlevements and Performance Club members look part in a wide range of activities covering a diverse array of interests including.. RESPONSIBILITIES for the financial year ended 31 December 2024 The trustees are responsible for preparing the financial statement5 in accordance with applicable law and regulations. The law applicable lo charitie5 in Northern Ireland requires the trustees lo prepare financial statements for each rinancial year which give a true and fair view of the assets, liabilities and financial position of the company as al the rinancial year end dale and of the surplus or deficit of the company and olhewise comply with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required lo= select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently., observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP make judgement5 and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent., stale whether the financial statements have been prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards, identify those standards, and note the effect 2nd the reasons for any material departure from those standards., and prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless Il is inappropriate to presume that the company will continue in operation. The regislerod office of the company is 6 Willowmounl, Omagh, Co Tyrone, BT79 7EA which is also the principal Pla￿ of business ol the company The financial slalements havè been presented in Pound 1£) which is also the functional curroncy of the company. SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES The following accounting policie5 have been applied consislenlly in dealing with items which are considered material in relation lo the charity s financial slalemenls. Basts of preparation The financial slalements have been prepared on the going concern basis under the historical cost convention, modified lo include certain items al fair value. The financial slalements have been prepared in accordance with the Slalement of Recommended Practice ISORPI "Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with Ihe Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland FRS 102" applying Section 1A of that Standard. As permitted by the Companies Act 2006, the company has varied the standard fomals in that act for the Statement of Financial Activities and the Balan￿ Sheet. Departures from the standard forrnats are lo comply with the requirements of the Charities SORP and are in compliance with section 4.7, 10.6 and 15.2 of thal SORP. Statement of compliance The financial statements of the company for the financial year ended 31 December 2017 have been prepared on the going concern basis and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice ISORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charitie5 preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland FRS 102" applying Section 1 A of that Standard. Incomlng Resources Voluntary income or capital is included in the Statement of Financial Activities when the company is legally entitled lo it, ils financial value can bo quantified with reasonablo certainty and there is reasonable certainty of ils ultimate receipt. EnlillemÈnt to legacies is considered established when the company has been notified of distribution lo be made by the executors. Income received in advance of due performance under a contract 15 accounted for as deferred income until earned. Grants for activities are recognised as income when Ihe related conditions for legal enliilement have been met. All other income is accounted for on an accruals basis. Resources Expended All resources expended are accounted for on an accruals basis. Charitable activities include costs of services and grants, support costs and depreciation on related assets. Costs of generating funds similarly include fundraising activities. Non-staff costs not attributed lo one category of activity are allocated or apportioned pro- rala to the staffing of the relevant service. Finance, HR, IT and administralive staff costs are directly attributable lo individual activities by objective. Governance costs are those associated with constilulional and slalutory requirernenl5. Cash at bank and in hand Cash at bank and in hand comprises cash on deposit at banks requiring less than three months notice of withdrawal. Taxatlon and deferred taxation No current or deferred taxation arises as the company has been granted charitable exemption. Irrecoverable valued added lax 15 expensed as incurred. Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet dale where transactions or events have occurred al that date that will result in an obligation lo pay more tax in the future, or a right to pay less tax in the future. Timing difference5 are temporary differences between the company's taxable profits and its results as stated in the financial statements.
