REPORT for the financial year ended 31 December 2023 The Iruslees present their Trustees, Report and the unaudited financial statements for the financial year ended 31 December 2023. The financial statements a￿ prepared in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and Accounting and Reporting by Charities- Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their financial statements in accordance with the Financial Reporting Stsndard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102). The Trustees, Report contains the information required lo be provided in the Trustees, Annual Report under the Statement of Recommended Practice {SORP) guidelines. The Iruslees of the company are also charity trustees for the pU￿oSe of charity law and under the company's constitution are known as members of the board of trustees. Mission, Objectives and Strategy Objectives The Saturday Club, fomied in 2002, provides social and leisure opportunities for children and young people wilh a learning disability. and their siblings. The club enhances the life skills in the children through a range of educational and creative aclivilies, and environmental and sports activities. The aim of the Club is to provide leisure and social opportunities and to encourage the personal and social development of Club members through this range of aclivilies. Through the Clubs activities, the children and young people who 8ttend learn new skills and develop their social skills and interests. Very importantly attendance at the Club provides respite for parents and carers. The voluntary management of the Club and its voluntary leadership and supervision during the Club sessions assists in drawing upon and developing the talents and skills that each volunteer brings to the Club. Public benefits.. The public benefit of The Saturday Club is-. the development of children and young people with a learning disability by the provision of help and support for them through an extensive programme of social and leisure activities Ihal contribute to their personal and social development. Whilst doing so. support and respite is provided for their parents and carers. and for the public and wider population. knowledge of learning disability is also provided. These benefits are demonstrated through the increased Club membership and with referrals from social services. The feedback from parentslcarers. siblings and the children themselves is what guides us in our work and we make certain that the Club is benefiting its members through ensuring they influence the activities the Club lakes part in. Parents are also heavily involved in the committee to guarantee they are well informed of what is happening. Of the private benefits flo¥Mng from the volunteering. one is Ihal volunteers and trustees are getting excellent experience through their various rolfjs, this in tum maybe benefitting Ihem in their future or prospe￿1Ve careers. Through the clubs activities and volunteer support and development. the club raise5 awareness of leaming disability in the loGal area. Slructure, Governance and Managernent structure The Saturday Club is affiliated lo Mencap and their Model Constitution and Model Child Protection Policy for Mencap & Galeway groups in Northern Ireland have been adopted.
