Trustee Annual Report - Sunflower Early Years Playgroup

This report has been prepared for the financial year 01 September 2022 to 31 August 2023 The name of the playgroup is Sunflower Early Years Playgroup which is also known as Sunflower Playgroup.

Charitable Purposes

This cross community group is established to advance education in children from 2 years 10 months up to 5 years old in the Fintona and surrounding areas, this will be done through planned play to help support the children’s learning. We will enhance the education and development of the children without distinction of sex, race of political, religious or other opinions and so that their conditions of life may be improved.

Main activities during the year

Sunflower Early Years Playgroup has benefited the public by providing a high standard of pre-school and pre pre-school education for children below the compulsory school age. We have provided a high standard of childcare at an affordable price to enable all families to avail.

Main achievements in the year

We provided a high standard of care and education for a large number of children from the local and surrounding community without prejudice. This has enhanced the lives of many and enabled them access to learn through play hence giving them a good foundation for lifelong learning. We achieved high standards for all children and were able to identify children with special or additional needs and make referrals to outside agencies allowing them access to appropriate services to ensure they received the same start to their education as those more abled bodied children.

Constitution

The constitution was set out on 9[th] January 2013 and reviewed each year, it set out membership/subscription and management policies as well as powers of the committee and the conduction of meetings. Voting powers and rules of procedure have been set out as well as role of the treasurer within the group. Finally, alterations to the constitution and dissolution procedures are set out. The current constitution I held on file by the Charity Commission.

Trustees/ Committee Members

All trustees have had regard to the commission’s public benefit requirement statutory guidance.

Our Trustee/committee members who were elected for this year are: Chairperson- Ciara McMenamin Vice Chair- Shauna McQuaid Treasurer- Lisa Boyle Secretary- Sarah Weir and Vice- Treasurer- Kathleen Haughey

No unauthorised person is to appoint trustees.

Financial position

At the close of the financial year our Deposit account was circa of £39732.00 the reserve policy stated that the deposit account balance was to be maintained at a level of £28,000 - £30,000 which ensures that core activity of Sunflower Early Years Playgroup could continue during a period of unforeseen difficulty. Our Financial position and income and out goings are reviewed at all our committee meetings.
