Activities
PURPOSES a) THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH The advancement of the Christian Faith in the world for the benefit of the public, through pastoral care, the holding of meetings, lectures, public celebrations of religious festivals, the production and distribution of literature and other media on the basis of the Christian faith, to enlighten others about the Christian faith, to demonstrate Christian values which include truth, justice, joy, peace and equality in society. b) RELIEF OF POVERTY The prevention or relief of poverty or financial hardship by providing or assisting in the provision of education and training, through the provision of food-banks, goods and services and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals, where possible, to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient. Giving advice on the management of money, household budgets and the provision of an affordable healthy diet. c) HEALTH AND WELL BEING The relief of physical and mental sickness of persons in need, by reason of addiction to substances or other forms of addiction, in particular by the provision of counselling and supporting healthcare projects. d) LIFE SKILLS IN THE COMMUNITY To develop the capacity and skills of socially and economically disadvantaged people at all ages in the community, in such a way that they are better able to identify their need and help them to participate more fully in society through seminars, workshops and distance learning. To facilitate after school tutoring clubs. e) HUMAN RIGHTS - SOCIAL INCLUSION To promote peace and reconciliation and assist in bridge building between all communities. Promoting knowledge and mutual understanding between different religious and racial groups and working towards the elimination of discrimination. f) CONCILIATION AND MEDIATION To provide for the benefit of the public, assistance through conciliation for couples whose relationships appear to be breaking down and where such relationships have already broken down, to advise and help in the settlement of differences or potential differences. g) COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT To advance in life and help for young people through the provision of recreational and leisure time facilities, in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life. Providing support and activities at home and further afield which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals. To provide a community centre serving Moira and the surrounding districts of approximately 8000 people. h) OTHER PURPOSES - RECREATION To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life. (The Trustees must use the Trust income and may use the capital of the Trust, in promoting the Purposes).
