Governing Document: Dromara Local History Group's governing document is its
Constitution, which was adopted by members on 27 October 2014 with amendments
agreed in November 2021.
The Group's primary objectives are as follows..
To study and encourage public interest in the folklore, archaeology and antiquities
of the region and, in particular, townlands in the Dromara area.,
To study its history and heritage;
To work with others to secure the preservation and protection of its history; and
To collect and disseminate information on its history.
Membership of the Group is open to anyone with an interest in local history and who
is supportive of the Group's objectives. The Group is funded mainly through
membership fees and voluntary contributions with applications made from time to time
to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council for grants for specific events
Public Benefit: In completing this Annual Report, the Trustees have had regard to the
Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's statutory guidan￿ on the public benefit
requirement. Dromara Local History Group meets the public benefit requirement by

providing opportunities for all sections of the community to learn about the history and
environment of Dromara and adja￿nt areas, thereby increasing their knowledge of
the district and their understanding of past events as well as encouraging a greater
appreciation of local history.
The purpose does not lead to hami and there are no private benefits for the Trustees.
The beneficiaries include anyone with an interest in local history with particular regard
to Dromara and the surrounding area. The benefits are demonstrated through
attendance at meetings and feedback from participants.

This event included a 'Hog Roast"
celebration supported by a grant from
Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council King's
Coronation Grant.
Plans were also made for the annual Group outing which took place on 16th September
2023 to the Ulster American Folk Park and the Abington Collection.
