The aim of the trust work is to equip participants with the life skills necessary to cultivate personal and relational responsibility that will enable them to contribute to the well being of their community. Donations income amounted to £66,641 (2022: £62,281), income from charitable activities amounted to £29,231 (2022: £18,895) and other income amounted to £39 (2022.. £1,363). Total expenditure for the year amounted to £100,228 (2022.. £88,278). Th¢ cost of charitable activities amounted to £1 00,228 (2022: £88,278). Net expenditure for the year amounted to £4,317 (2022: £5,739 net expenditure) consistintr of unrestricted net expenditure of £3,425 (2022: £2,774 net expenditure) and restricted net expenditure of £892 (2022: £2,965 net expenditure). At close of business on 31" March 2023 Cast had a bank balance of £19,526, equivalent to 4 months of core costs which is in keeping with recommendations from the Charities Commission Nl regarding operational reserves. A further £2,600 per month in donations, inclusive of gift aid repayment, guarant¢¢d for the cominiv financial year uives the trustees confidence that Cast can continue to operate. There have been si.onificant challenges this year Post Covid as schools, community Ivroups and networks resumed more of "a business as usual" approach to activities. With a collapsed Executive in N.I. and questions over fundin(F in education and community contexts, there has been a cautious approach to expenditure. Despite this, Cast is celebrating a number of highlights this year including: partnering with several youth and community organisations to increase their profiles in the public domain as they seek to engage youno people in meaningfully living out the gospel message. produ¢in(r a series of 5 videos for YouthLink NI to recruit young peopl¢ onto their Theolotry> and Youth Work course. Tes¢arching and procuring equipment for a media project for a Lisburn community organisation serving several thousand young people and adults in the local area. We provided training for volunteers to use the equipment, enhancing their confidenc¢, sense of belon(Tino teamwork skills and long-term employability. delivered 768 Counselling appointments supportin(T some of the most vulnerable in our community to overcome depression, anxiety, trauma, family dysfunction, self-harni and suicidal ideation. This provides sufficient funds to cover runnin(T Costs which include management, administration and support costs. PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS Cast Ministries will continue to impact on young people and their leaders via locally or nationally hosted programmes of events which will facilitate their personal, social and faith development. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND L4NAGEMENT Governin(r Document Th¢ ori¥anisation is a charitable trust constitutcd under a trust deed dated 3110311999, which is recognised as a charity with The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. Recruitment a ointment induction and trainin(F The present trustees have been involved in the charity for a number of years and so are familiar with its work. The trustees regularly review the requirements of the charity and the possibility of a need for additional trustees. Any new trustees would be appointed by resolution of a meeting of all trustees passed by a majority of those present. Appropriate training and induction is available to all trnste¢s. Risk Mana ement The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to the operations and finances of the Charity, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate an exposure to major risks. Where appropriate, systems or procedures have been established to miti(Tate the risks th¢ ¢harÉty faces. Internal control risks are minimised by the implementation of procedures for authorisation of all transactions and projects. Procedures are in place to ensure compliance with health and safety of staff, volunteers, clients and visitors. These procedures are periodically reviewed at least annually to ensure that they continue to meet the needs of the charity. Oroanisational Structure Cast Ministries has a management committee of 5 members who meet regularly and are responsible for the strategic direction and policy of the charity. STATEMENT OF REsPONsIBILIEs OF THE TRUSTEES The charity's trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kin£rdom Accountino Standards (United Kin(Fdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. The trustees ar¢ responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of th¢ charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008, the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 and the provisions of the trust deed. The trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for takin(r reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
