Finances".
The opening balance was £3912.08, the Parish finances are in a reasonably healthy state at
present. The number of people giving through the FWO scheme has continued to fall over
this p35t year, the effect of this on our Church finances has been negated by the number of
people who now give money directly into the bank. Church finances are helped enormously
by the rebate we receive from HMRC, this amounted to £13525.07, without this rebate we
would struggle to exist. The Parish runs a series of "Lenten Lunches" from Ash Wednesday
until the Wednesday of Easter week, these lunches brin8 members of, not only our local
community, but of the wider community together where they spend 2-3 hours havin8 lunch
and renewing acquaintances, there are people who find it difficult to get out and about
from their homes, these people have a lunch delivered to them, from these lunches alone
we gave £3,200 pounds to eight different charities.
Our income and expenditure balances at 31st December 2016 were
Income
£93,256.39
Expenditure
£93,256.39
We run many other events duringthe year, a necessity in orderto bolster our church
income and to allow the parish to support other deservin8 charities and organisations such
as C.M.S.I, and Children to Lapland Trust. We give money to the Brighter Whitehead group,
this group of people plant flowers and fauna throughout the local area in order to make the

town more appealin& we also donate money to the Whitehead Community Association to
help fund activities for all the population of the surrounding area.
Our church hall is used extensively throughout the year by different groups such as Bowling
teams. Walkers group, visiting youth groups. circus skills group, Mothers union and by
others who use the premises for meetings and fund-raising activities. The church premises
were used recently to allow family members to have a coffee morning after a church
baptism. we do have a cup of tea after all our mornin8 Services on a Sunday, this lets people
have a chat after church, the church hall is also used by our Sunday school children on a
weekly basis during which they learn about the Bible and what Christianity means to
everyone, they also practice the plays and other acts that they put on in the Church at
Christmas and at other times.
Thankfully with the purchase of our new rertory some 18 months ago we have seen a
considerable reduction in spending on the Glebe building. During the year our Church
building in Whitehead has had necessary maintenance work carried out on it includin8
repairs to stop water ingress and a complete repainting of the Church.
Our Church in Islandmagee currently requires work to be carried out on it mostly to clean
the render on the exterior of the building.
We have a rota system in place whith ensures that the same people are not counting any
monies which the parish receives every week, we also have two people countingthis monev
each week.
The finances are managed bythe Hon. Treasurer. MrT.Peoples, who reports backto the
select vestry every month or in between if necessary, vestry members are elected each year
at the General Easter Vestry.
The principal function of the Parish of Whitehead and Islandmagee is to support the
