Obiertlves andArtlvltles The charltable purpose of the Church of Ireland is the advancement of religion. The prfnclpal function of the Parlsh of Templetorran is to support the advancement of the Christlan religion by promotin& through the work of the Parish of Templecorran the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangellstic. social and ecumenical. Being open to and engaglng with soryety as a whole and offerSng 5UPPQrt for those nèedlng help are fundamental to the practical delivery of the benefits of Christianity. As a result of activity in the pursuit of the advancement of the Christian rellglon, the Parlsh of Templecorran has Custody of property and of records, materlals and artefarts of significance to the cultural and reli8ious heritage and maintenance of whlch Is undertaken by the selert vestry of the Parish of Templecorran. Athlevements Perfomiunce & Publi¢ Benefit The parish through its Church Building provldes weekly servlces of publlc Worship. open to all. whlch contribute to spirltual well-being of partl¢ipants and the reinforcement of Chrlstian values. Throu8h the rettor, and those who assist him. the parish provldes pastoral care to any whct reqvest it. The rector, on behalf of the parish. is involved In the local primary school leading assemblies monthly and serving on the Board of Governors. In cooperatlon with the other churches in the vlllage of Ballycarry there are a number of Jolnt events each year for the whole communlty and for all ages. As there is no rector at present thè Dlocese provtdes clergy to perform the Sunday service5 durln8 the vacancy and deal with pastoral matter5 as they arise. The Dioce$3n process has begun to flnd a new rertor and that proces5 is expected to be completed by summer 2019. These activities Implement our charltable purposes and provlde public benefit. HnaftdolRevlew The parish contlnues to be In a so¢Jnd financlal position with an in year surplus on all atcounts and significant reserves to meet UnfoSeen liabilities. The cash funds we have Invested with The Church of Ireland Trustees" we endeavour to maintsln as a reserve against any major capit31 work on our Chvrth Building whlch we may need to do in the future. All income from unit trust Investments with the Representative Body and the Churth of Ireland Trusteès Ss available for general purposes. At 31 Deomber 2018 unrestricted funds amounted to £28346 and restricted and endowment funds amounted to £60254. Goinq Concern During the current perlod of vacancy, 5ncome may be expected to reduce sllghtly however Costs will also be lower. Wlth a new rertor expected in summer 2019 costs will Increase but the new rector will be active to Stlmulate growth including Income 8rowth. In the Ilght of thls the trustees have revlewed the budgets for the year ahead and are satisfied that there are adequate fund5 in place lo ensure that the Parish can contlnue its artivitie5 for a period of at least 12 months from the date of approval and the financlal statements for the year ended 31 December 2018 can be slgned off as a 8olng concem. Meetin85 ol the general vestry are held at least once a year. The Select Vestry Is elected as part of this General Vestry meetlng. The Select Vestry will hold thelr positions for a period of one year. Select Vestry member5 may be re-elected anrbually and there Is no1Smit on the number of temis which may be served. Poyond remuneratlon The stipend, office and locomotory allowances of the Incumbent of the Parish 15 pald by the other parish with which the Parish of Templecorran Is grouped, namely the Parlsh of Kilroot. The Parish of Temple¢orran pays 25% of these costs which are in accordance with fi8ures approved by the General Synod of the Church of Ireland and the Dlocese of Connor. The rector resigned wlth effect from 6 October 2018 so the amounts expended in 2018 are lower, pro-rota, than those in 2017. Select vestry members are responsible for making decisions on matters of general concern and importance to the parlsh includlng deciding how parish fvnds are to be applied. The select vestry meets at tlmes flxed by the members or by the diocesan gynod. Speclal meetln8s may be convened at any time by the chairperson or the churchwardens. In 2018 the Select Vestry met 3 times during the year and the average attendance wa5 90%. Compllon¢e wlth Publk Benefft The Parlsh has 8iven careful tonsideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on publlc benefit to ensure that the activitie5 entered into durin8 the year have helped to achieve the Parish's purpose and objectives. as well as providing public benefit. Stotement oJTNstees'Responslbllities The trustees are responsible for preparing the TnJstees' Report and the Statement of receipts and payments and statement of assets and liabllltles in accordance with applicable law and regulatlons. The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland wlth Income of le55 than £250.OCM) requires the trustees to prepare a statement of receipts and payments and a statement of assets and liabilities for each flnancial year. The trustees are responsible for keepin8 accounting records that are sufficlent to show and explain the Parish's transactlons and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the assets and liabilities of the PaT15h. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Parish and hence for taking reasonable step5 for the preventlon and detettlon of fraud and other Irregularltles.
