Structure, Governance and Management
Comber Primary School PTA is a charity which is run by a committee elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. The committee currently consists of: Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and two Catering Team members.
We are registered as a charity with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. We are also registered with HMRC so that Gift Aid can be reclaimed on donations for sponsored events which boosts our fundraising efforts. Our governing document is the constitution which was adopted on 13th October 2014.
Objectives and Activities
The purpose of the PTA is to advance the education of pupils in the school, in particular by developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school; and engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.
The committee meet during the year to manage the affairs of the PTA, and to discuss and organise fundraising events. All parents of children at the school are members of the PTA and are invited to meetings.
Achievements and Performance
This year has been a very successful fundraising year and over £8,000 been raised for the school. We ran several very successful events throughout the year including our popular Christmas and Summer fairs but the highlight of the year for the children was the extremely successful “Penny Wars”. This raised an amazing £2,457! The children loved this new fundraising initiative and delighted in sabotaging other classes efforts. The winning classes in junior and senior school were rewarded with a movie and party bags. We held the annual sponsored walk in conjunction with our summer

fair again this year. The were very lucky as weather was beautiful and family members were able to join in the fun!
We are indebted to many people for their help during the year. In particular special thanks go to Mr Logan, Mrs Hoey, and our staff representatives this year. Thanks also to the teachers and ancillary staff who help at events.
In June 2025 we said goodbye to 3 committee members, Danielle, Kathryn and Miriam, as their children move on from Comber Primary School. We would like to thank them for all the hard work they have put into fundraising for the PTA over the years. They will be missed.
We also wish to thank all the parents and friends of Comber Primary School for their support and generosity.
