COMMITTEE MINUTES

A meeting of the Friends of Carniny Primary School committee was held on Thursday 20[th] September at 7p.m.

1. APOLOGIES

Apologies were received from; Lorraine Reynolds, Thomas Micheal, Lauren Church and Jill McCrickard.

Mr Fisher started the evening off with a welcome to everyone and thanked all the FOCPS members for all their continued hard work and pledged his and the staff's support throughout the incoming year. Mr Calwell was in attendance on behalf of the teaching staff.

Paula Marshall welcomed everyone old and new to our first meeting of the school year and reciprocated the thanks to the help and support from all FOCPS members, everyone then introduced themselves.

She also expressed her thanks to Mr Church on behalf of all at FOCPS for his 12 months of service and welcomed Mr Calwell.

2. FINANCIAL UPDATE

Janette reviewed the finances. In the 2022/2023 school year we had a closing balance of £5228.63 which is excellent. The monies for replacement defibrillator pads (required every 4 years) was eventually deducted at a cost of £250.56. The FOCPS funding last year was used to purchase Mathletics which is now used by all year groups, new ipads and photocopying.

Janette also announced her withdrawal for the incoming year as
Treasurer of FOCPS, though she also emphasized that she would be on
hand to assist the new appointed treasurer for the incoming year.
A special thanks goes to Una McKillop of Park McKillop Accountants.
Una continues to do our accounts and our Charity Commission
submission even though she no longer has children at the school, she also
continues to offer these services for free which we are eternally grateful.
A copy of 2022/2023 financial statement is also attached.
3. ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The election of new members occurred:
Treasurer – Hollie Platt , nominated by Justine McMullan and seconded
by Janette O’Boyle.
There were no objections to the current Chair and Secretary therefore it
was agreed by all that these positions would remain the same.
Chair – Paula Marshall Everyone
Secretary – Melanie Kernohan
All positions were accepted by nominees and agreed with the rest of
the committee present.
4. Objectives for the year ahead
It was agreed that this year’s fundraising would be restricted to a few
events throughout the school year due to the ongoing difficulties faced
by families, with the current cost of living crisis. Therefore activities and
dates will be confirmed with September’s newsletter to enable families
to budget in advance.
Assist with the funding for the markings in the Foundation year’s
playground (P1-3), continuation of Mathletics, photocopying and play
equipment. Any other assistance to be confirmed at a later date.

It was also suggested that some well being actvites to be introduced
during the year such as Jo Jingles or fun with drums. Caroline
mentoned a Halifax foundaton fund that we may be eligible for, Paula
to look into this further.
