NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31.12.2022
AccouNTING POLICIES
Set out below are the principal accounting policies which have been adopted in the compilation of the receipts
and payments account and the statement of assets and liabilities. All items of income and expenditure included
within the receipts and payments account have been accounted for on a cash receipts basis.
Fixed asset investments - investment properties, investments in equities (ordinary shares} and investments in
RCB/CIT unit trusts - are stated at fair value at each year end date. Investments in unquoted investments are
recorded at cost and are assessed annually for impaimient.
RETAINED ASSETS
Assets retained for the parish's own use are the church buildings and graveyard5, fixtures and fittings, the
Ballyphilip Parish Centre, the rectory {4 Rectory Wood), and the Margaret Hurst Dwelling117 Anne Street). The
church buildings. 8raveyards, and fixtu￿5 and fittings are deemed to be heritage assets as defined by the
Charities SORP IFR51021. They are not included in the statement of assets and liabilitie5 because information on
the cost or valuation is not available and cannot be obtained at a cost commensurate with the benefit to the
users of the accounts and to the parish. The Ballyphilip Parish Centre is insured for £795,000 and rectory and the
Margaret Hurst Dwellin8 have rateable valuations of £87,5(KJ and £77,500 respertively.

Because of chan8es in legislation and re8ulatory proceduresand to improve transparencyand accountability, the
select vestry has reduced the number of funds to an unrestricted General Fund, four restrirted purpose funds
(Buildings Fund, Graveyard Fund, Mi55ion Fund, and Youth Fund) and two endowment funds Ilnvestment Fund
and Property Fund). The closure of redundant funds and transfer of balances to the new funds are shown in the
Movement in Funds table below.

TRANSACTIONS WITH THE TRUSTEES
No trustee received any remuneration or reimbursement of expenses durin8the year, otherthan:
Elizabeth Browne: £58 for purchase of Brown's Charity gifts.
Rhoda Dorndorf: £149 for purchase of electric heaters.
Elaine McFeeters: £195 for purchase of Brown's Charity gtfts and £24 for postal expenses.
Lorna Peacock: £72 for purchasing a coffee machine for the youth group.
James Quinn: £21 paid to his daughterfor clearing and cleaning the Hurst Dwelling.
Kathleen Smyth: £30 for purchase of Brown's Charity gifts.
The expenses were incurred with the express concurrence of and with prior authorisation by the select vestry,
which has examined the reimbursements and is satisfied with their propriety.
No trustee or a person related to a trustee had any personal interest in any contract or transaction entered into
by the charity during the year.

GOVERNANCE COSTS
