Donations were received. Various building materials were purchased and shipped to the region to enable the work lo commenGe. A team of individuals travelled lo Lusaka lo oversee the progress. Thg following is a summary of the different strands of work we are currantly involved in. 1 Build a secondary school for 400 children in Chainda. 2 Establish a Pre and Post-natal children nutritional clinic for expectant mothers from Chainda compound and local district. 3 Link QUB Belfasl to UNZA, the Teaching Hospital of Lusaka. 4 Expand our Primary school in the parish to accommodate 250 childrgn. 5 Install a water purnp, sland and lank system foi bolh of our feedei Ptimary schools and our Secondary school. 6 Construct a metalwork, woodwork and construction ntre for practical learning and education on our secondary school sitè. The charity raise5 funds in Northetn Ireland bul the thatitable wotks ale cartied out in Zambia. Public benefit The Trustees have paid due regard lo guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding whal activities the Charity should undertake.

The land registry deeds for this land are lodged with the SMA Tyrone School. Our intention is to build a non-denominalional, all abiliiies. secondary school for UP to 1,0(J) children, boys and girls. Currently, in the compound, there are places available for 15°h _ 200% of the children that are eligible lo go to secondary school. In many cases the families of these children cannol afford to pay fees or Iravelling costs to the few secondary schools in the city. This situation compounds the already significant problems and lack of oplions available to these children and young adults in regards to basic post primary education, personal health, life skills, career skills and availability of post 16year education choices. We liave a successftjl primary SGhool in Tere38'8 and therc arc other primary schools within 1.5km that teach the children from the nearby Compounds. Per student place, secondary schools are exper)sive lo start up but can make money as a business within 5 years. the profits are then used to improve the school reSoUrS and offer bursaries to the kids from less well-off families and the compounds. Currenlly Sr Clare are drawing up 3 and 5 year plans for both schools. Queens Uni Belfast, medical school are coming on board with medical support for our Chainda children. The basic school structure is similar lo Jim BraOYS school on the T2 ilt MOOMBA . A single slory building buill around a central COLkrtyard with a high wide veranda and slrict access in and out past the Principals office. The initial phase will cater for 400 students in 13 Glassrooms and construclion skills rooms. We will teach basic languages. maths, sciences, compulers. home en0[1G, pgisuiial developfflei)l and health, sport, music and drama. The site requires the following construGtion projects completed, whelhor we have 100 children or 1.000. .400 metres of safely perimeter wall and safety gales. 'Safe car drop off areas and traffic management. 'Upgrading of adjacenl foot paths. 'Staff c2r and bike parking. "Teacher accommodation block. We intend catering for 151 year children this January with numbers growing in every temi as facilities grow. We will have a cash shortfall until sludent numbers are over 150. So the sooner we get facilities in place the sooner the Gharity will run the way we fOrCce it, and be able to offar real meaningful bursaries to the poorest rhildrp.n in Ihe compound lo sel them on a life course Ihal 11)ey cali only dream off. up to now. The secondary school will provide much needed additional education support to the older chiFdren in the area. This has a double impact of helping to develop the literacy of Ihe communily, and the economic circumstances of families. 80th of these are key foundations to raising Ihe standard of living for the community, and the region as a whole. Fundrnising pr8clices The charity relies on the donations from the donors identffied as required in the accounts, whose support is valued. Flnancial review The trustees consider the finanaal perfomiance by the charity during the year lo have been satisfactory. Donations and income of £54,910 were received. wilh expendilure of £56.025 resulting in a deficil of £600. The main expenditure was on the new secondary school whith continued its constnjction during the year, as well as travel cosls lo area. Reserves policy Th¢ trustees monilor reserves, the trustees understand the importance of continuing fundraising activates in order to build reserves lo an appropriate level. The chaFtty aims lo hold iesetves of £10,000 depending on the timing of donations received. However in resull of covid-19. level of donations was reduced and reserves utilised, the charily is currently trying to build the.qe reserves back up_ Plans for futurÉ pÈriod2 Future plans are that the charity aims to c()viliviue its fund raising aclivities successfully to enable it lo offer the services it currently offers to the people of Lusaka, through the continued construction of the secondary school.
