Down BT34 2DL A Brief History of Bringing Hope Bringing Hope was formed on 151 July 2006 following a discussion among a group of friends to help provide practical help to cancer sufferers, their families, friends and carers. It has grown from those early days of helping a few people to now helping and supporting hundreds of people each year by providing practical help to ease the burden caused by cancer. Objectives and Activities We provide care and support services to cancer sufferers and their families by offering the following serviTrs'. Benefits advice Relaxation therapies Easterlchristmas hampers Transport arrangements to medical appointments Help with living costs Clothing donations Short respite stays at Hopefield House, Portrush We also work in partnership and assist with much needed funding for other cancer charities within Northern Ireland. The trustees have four meetings a year, one of which is an Annual General Meeting. A funding sub-committee of at least three trustees meets as when required to administer donation of funds to individuals. Charity Income The charity has re￿iVed no government funding in 2023. We have however been fortunate to re￿1ve funds from grant making trusts. All other income to the charity has been from fundraising by the general public through shopping centres and shops collections. Fundraising events are also organised by individual businesses, schools and youth organisations. We would like to give special thanks to all the organisations who organised fundraising events to raise funds for our much needed work. The trustees would also like to thank all the volunteers who gave their time to help in the various fundraising activities so that we were able to support and help those in need. Ms Bronagh Mcmahon Ms Bronagh Mcmahon Trustee Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees Bringing Hope Year ended 31 December 2023 We report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 December 2023, which comprise the statements of income and expenditure. Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. It is our responsibility to.. examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act. follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act. state whether particular matters have come to our attention. Basis of independent examiner's report We have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and our examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9}(b) of the Charities Act. The examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. Our role is to state whether any material matters have come to our attention giving us cause to believe-. 1 } That accounting records were not kept as required by section 63 of the Charities Act. 2) That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records. 3) That the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act. 4) That there is further information needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. We have cornpleted our examination and have identified matters of concern in respect of areas11) and 12). Some misstatements in the accounts provided were identified and corrected accordingly. It was noted that a small proportion of the expenditure was made in cash from retained unbanked cash and some receipts were not kept. The charity trustees are aware of the importance of maintsining full records of such transactions going foward. In respect of matters13} and141 listed above, and in following the Directions of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, we have found no other matters that require drawing to your attention.
