Garvagh and District Dlamond Club - Trustee Report 2023
Meeting in the GADDA Building, Garvagh
I am pleased to present this report for the year January 2023 to December 2023.
Attendance has remained steady throughout the year, with an average of around
36-40 members at each meeting. As always, numbers vary depending on the
health and availability of our members, but we continue to enjoy strong support
and great company at every gathering.
Throughout 2023, we were delighted to welcome a range of guest speakers and
entertainers who brought plenty of interest and laughter to our meetings. We
enjoyed music, singalongs, and educational speakers.
We continued with a mix of activities that everyone enjoys - quizzes, bingo,
and storytelling sessions inspired by local history and old photographs. These
sessions are always a great way to share memories and keep our minds active.
In June 2023, our annual outing took us on a bus trip to Donegal, where we
stopped for lunch and enjoyed a scenic drive along the coast. The trip was a
great success, with lots of laughter and friendship along the way.
Our Christmas dinner was held in the Imperial Hotel, Garvagh, on 13th
December 2023. where we enjoyed a lovely meal, a festive raffle, and
entertainment. It was a wonderful way to end the year together.
While we were unable to secure grant funding again this year, we managed to
keep the Club running through careful budgeting and the dedication of our
members. I would like to express sincere thanks to all comrnittee members for
their continued commitment and support, and to everyone who donates tea,
biscuits, and other supplies for our meetings.
A special word of thanks goes to the ladies who organise and serve the tea each
week, and to Mickey and Anne, whose ongoing dedication in organising
speakers and keeping everyone infornied has been invaluable.
Looking ahead, I hope that new members will continue to join us so that we can
share in friendship, fun, and community spirit through another year of activities,
music, and laughter.
