Windyhall community assoclatlon 2024 chairperson report It has been a pleasu to once again representourcommunity as chairand again a huge thankyou to our commrttee and volunteers who help get our projects of the ground and could never be done wlthout them thank you all. This report starts from 2023 and as usual we had a busy year; we had ourannual easter hunt and kids party which was well attended bythe young 2nd parents wlthln our community this was a good start to our year and set us up forthe ongoing help we glve in the community. Our next projectwas our annual 12, festivalwhich we run overa few day5 With dIffent events we have the local band found to play and walk the windyhall estate as well a5 some of the members available to teath the youn8 to play various instruments this was the first year, we done tuition and seemed to be well received so I think we will include it again in this year's programme we also had our annual horse shoe competition which takes a full day to play out and also provide a BBQ for the players and spee(ators all this leads up to the annual family fun day with bouncy castles, music and th bbq and of course the lighting of the beacon which sees outthe fun day on the 11 July . Throughout the sumrnerwe had other events planned like a slip and sllde day and assault course in the field, but the weatherwa5 not on ourside, sowe continued with our plans and went ahead with our Halloween party which we held indoors thls time, we decorated the main hall In the community centre with spookydecoratlons,had a fancy dress dlsco and party which was very well attended we even had children and parents from outside our area attend and they were very welcome and enjoyed the evening. After Halloweenwe had a meetinBtotalk about plans forchristmas, we decided we would do some fundralslng and provide somethin8 for the whole community young and old we mana8ed to ralse enough money to go ahead with our plans to provide the resldents of penslon age with Christmas meat which was a choice of a turkey crown or a gammon we Successfully provided over 50 cuts of meat to our pensioner households . Forthe rest of the residents, we had a Christmas dlsw, fancy dress and a party with hot and cold food and of course Christmas treat5forthe klds and for the adult's tea, coffee and Christmas mulled wine (alcohol f ree). The main chan8e to our Chrlstmas event was we were able to go ahead with a long lingering idea of building our own Santa'sgrotto,we had been talking on bullding one forthe past couple of year5 SO wlth the fundingwe raised we were ableto go ahead with the projectand we nowhave an excellent 8rotto we can use for many years ahead and as a result we had Santa call with us to greet the kids get a present and let the parents take a photo with Santa . In all we had a busy and eventful yearwhich to our delight was well supported by our cummunity and others fromoutside we hope to grow on this in the coming year and look forward to being busy again and provide forour community.
