ANNUAL REPORT The directors present the annual report and the financial statements of the company for the year ended 30th November, 2023. 1. Statement Of Directors, Responsibilities Company law requires the directors to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company as at the balance sheet date and of the profit or loss for the year then ended. In preparing the financial statements the directors are required to: (a) select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently {b) make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent (c) state whether applicable accounting policies have been followed (d) prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis unless that basis is inappropriate The directors are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the company and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with The Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. 2. Principal Activities And Review Of The Business The principal activities of the business during the period consisted of legacy archive research. Paper Trail has been created specifically to help ordinary families access official information buried in archives for decades. Together, the information we find will benefit them and future generations, for history informs us all. Respective responsibilities of director and independent examiner: As described on page 3 the company directors are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements which comply with The Companies Act 2006 and The Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. The charity is not subject to an audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination. It is our responsibility to: (i) examine the financial statements under section 65 of The Charities Act. (li) follow the procedures laid down in general directions given by the Charity (iii) Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act. state whether particular matters have come to our attention. Basis of independent examiners report: We have examined the attached charity accounts as required under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act and our examination was carried out under the general directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act. The examination of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements. Our role is to state whether any unusual matters came to our attention giving us concern accounting records were not kept which comply with the Companies Act, 2006 and with The Charities Act S(63)' The financial statements are not in accordance with the accounting records. the financial statements do not comply with the accounting requirements of S396 of the Companies Act, 2006 and with methods and principles of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing accounts in accordan￿ with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable to the U K and Ireland. (iv) that there is further information needed for a proper understanding of the financial statements.
