About the Charity Killowen Community Association Windyhall Community Association operate in the area of Coleraine called the Heights and primarily in the Killowen Estate. We are primarily a group which works to improve the lives of local people through the provision of activities to improve the lives of residents and lobbying for new and additional services for the estate.
The public benefit which flows from our purposes is to provide community development activities to alleviate poverty through organizing activities including lobbying for better services from the Housing Executive and the local council. roads service and the PSNI. We also apply for funding to organise events to enable local people to attend advice clinics on local issues including welfare, jobs and benefits and community safety issues.
We apply for funding to organize social and educational activities including recreational classes, child protection and basic food hygiene to enable more local people to go into work through gaining volunteering experience and we also organise visits to local museums and places of interest. We organise community festivals and good relations activities to promote good neighbourliness and citizenship in our area and organise youth diversion activities. We work with a range of local agencies to support us to meet our aims and objectives.
This year I wish to acknowledge how much we appreciate our committee and volunteers from the local community who give so much time and effort to improve the local community for everyone.
How the charity is funded Killowen Community Association has a robust fundraising strategy in place to meet its charitable aims. Income is derived from funders including Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and Donations and a copy of our accounts are attached. Administration Information During the financial year the group were based in the local community in the Killowen Estate utlising various halls and community centres as we do not have our own premises.
