Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31st December 2023
The trustees present the annual report and statements of Receipts and Payments and Assets and Liabilities for The Church of
the Holy Evangelists, Carnmoney, for the year ended 31st December 2023
Objettives and Activities The charitable purpose of the Church of Ireland is the advancement of religion.
The principal function of The Church of the Holy Evangelists, Carnmoney, is to support the advancement of the Christian
religion by promoting, through the work of this parish church the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social
and ecumenical. Essential elements in fulfilling this function are the maintenance of church for the worship of God, the
offering of pastoral care to worshippers and those who request help, and engaging with the local community to promote
understanding of issues of faith. These core activities support the practical delivery of the benefits of Christianity.
As a result of activity in the pursuit of the advancement of the Christian religion, The Church of the Holy Evangelists,
Carnmoney has custody of property and of records, materials and artefacts of significance to the cultural and religious
heritage of the community. The Select Vestry of The Church of the Holy Evangelists, Carnmoney, undertakes maintenance of
these and access to baptism, marriage and burial records is provided on request. The charity's beneficiaries are thus both
those who choose to form part of its community of faith and those from the wider community who may request help in a
variety of areas.
Micah 4.1-5 talks of a church on a hill with people streaming into it, telling each other about it and encouraging them to
come. But additionally the word of God not staying there, but going out from that church bringing peace and blessing to
the local community. Well people aren't quite streaming into yet but I do believe that this year in particular has seen the
beginning of that process as we have seen God bringing both growth and blessing to our corporate life together here,
and also seen us becoming increasingly a blessing to our local community. I shared last year how its impossible now to
say who actually is a part of Carnmoney Parish Church.
Certainly many people in our many groups who we wouldn't see on Sundays here would Say they belonged to
this church and are blessed by the life they receive here.
We're re8ularly getting 25 or more people at our monthly Midday prayer service now, probably only a quarter
of whom would be on our membership list.
Additionally our online congregation is almost as big every week as those who attend our two in person services
and we have no idea who most of them arel
But most excitedly this last 12 month5 have seen a number of new faces actually attending our worship on
Sundays and for the first time since I've been here we've had more people join the church and become
members this year than have died and been taken off our membership list.
The blessing that comes both from the faithfulness of many of our groups who meet week after week and month after
month and again the really exciting thing about this last year is that we have seen numbers increasing in nearly all of our
regular groups:
Our Faith factory now has 18 members more than for many years.
Our Wednesday Fellowship Group is growing with our recent Lent Course being the largest course we've held so
far here,
Our Friendship club sees new members every week. We had 72 people attend our March meeting very few of
whom were members of this church
Our Mothers Union again from being on the point of folding 2 years ago is attracting more and more new
members Our lad5 brigade has almost doubled in number5 since September and our girls brigade has attracted 6
new leaders following Johnnvs illnes5 and death.
Our Thursday bowling continues to attract new members too as does our new Monday night initiative.
Knitting Bee too is becoming almost too big for the Memorial room and they are talking of trying to oust the
bowlers from the big hall
JOY too is a shining light attracting new people from outside the church

So that's our regularly week by week life but looking back over this year we have also seen a number of exciting
new initiatives springing up. Here are some of the highlights:
The Eco club had just started this time last year but has undertaken some amazing bits of work this year to such
an extent that it was featured in the Church of Ireland Gazette last month.
The Healing Hub has now been established and as well as our Healing SeNices we offer prayer after every
service and also often in the hall too and we've seen some lovely healing miracles this year too.
In August we held our first Children's Holiday Club for many years and had a fantastic week led for us by the
"Play it BY Earf, Theatre company.
Although the Men's Society folded this year the new Carnmoney Men's Group has taken its place.
This last year we have established new outreach services into Dunanney and the Glebe Nursing homes as well as
maintaining our regular service in Glenabbey Care Home.
In September 11 of us had a fantastic Pilgrimage to Glendalough where we learnt about St. Kevin and had great
fun and fellowship together.
In November after 4 years we re-stablished our craft Fair raising over £2000 for church funds.
And in November too we also trained and registered as a safe church supportin8 anyone experiencing domestic
violence.
Finally if you haven't already done so please do have a look at our new website developed by Harry which really
is brilliant and is the first point of call for anyone wanting to find out about our church.
So lots going on and many exciting developments but lets please keep in mind our primary mission and just to remind
you of Archbishop William Temples famous quote." "The church is the only voluntary organisation that exists primarily
for the benefit of its non-members., Its not primarily about us, rather its about those in our community who don't know
Christ and his love I
Jesus says in John 4:35 "Open your eyes and look at the fields they are ripe for ha￿est., Our job as Christians is in Jesus,
words to "harvest the crop for eternal life" So how do we go about doing that?
Concluslon and Publlc benefit Compliance
The Ilfe of Carnmoney Parish Church is varied, multi-faceted and sees many people offering their time, money and gifts in the
service of God and others. The Parish has given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's
guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the Parish's
objectives and activities, as well as providing public benefit,
