KENNEDY MEMORIAL TRUST Charity registered no 102330 Trustees, Report for January 2023 to December 2023 PURPOSE The purpose of the Trust is set out in a Lease whereby Amelia Kennedy acquired land on Downshire Road Holywood from one Sara Maria Birch in 1909. This land was placed in a trust four years later for the benefit of the poor in the parish of Holywood,. The houses then built on thi8 land were, over a period of many years, sold (as empowered by the Trust deed) and the proceeds invested with a leading Investment Company familiar with charitable investments. The income received from that Investment Company is deposited with Danske Bank. The Trustees draw funds from this Bank Account to make distributions to individuals in need or other charities actively supporting those in need In accordance wlth the objects of the Trust. ACTIVITIES The main activity of the Trust is the distribution of its income. The trustees are reluctant to disturb capital, though may consider doing so if addressing extreme need. Clergy can make us aware of sensitive cases of personal or familial need. Some aspects of the church programme are not affordable to some without modest grants. Other churches in Holywood receive assistance from this Trust towards outreach events bringing material aid to some who are struggling to get by. We do not strive to increase our capital - we try to make good use of what we already have. ACHIEVEMENTS Contact with the elderly and housebound has been maintained by assisting with the cost and eventual distribution of calendars: debt counselling has been offered to some who do not manage money very well: drugs prevention schemes have been presented to children in local schools; some asylum seekers residing in Holywood have been given the use of reconditioned bicycles to allow more mobility.
RESTRICTIONS No restrictions or pre-conditions were imposed on donees, provided such persons came within the general criterion of poverty.
