KENNEDY MEMORIAL TRUST
Charity registered no 102330
Trustees, Report for January 2022 to December 2022
Purpose
The purpose of the Trust is set out in a deed drawn up around 1911 whereby certain
funds were set asid6 "for the relief of the poor in the parish of Holywood". These
funds were used to purchase houses in the town. Over the years, these houses
were sold for market value and monies invested with a leading Investment Company
accustomed to managing funds on behalf of charities.
The income produced Is deposited In an account with Danske Bank and distributed
from time to time by the trustees in accordance with the objects of the Trust. The
advent of the Welfare State addressed many or most of the needs of the community
but there are still some who for various reasons fall through the net and who the
Trust can asslst, provlded they belong to the local area.
Activltles
The maln activlty of the trustees is the distribution of our income and, where
justifiable. a modest portion of our capital. We make no public appeals, nor do we
expect any donations to augment our funds. Where we become aware of other
larger charities with objects similar to ourselves. we support their work when they are
reaching others In the locality of whom we were not aware. Sometlmes food
vouchers from local shops or supermarkets can be discreetly given to families in
hardship. Sometimes a programme of direct provision operated by a local church
can be supported financially. Sometimes a food bank known to be used by local
people can be supported in the same way.
Achlevements
The easing of restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic continued
throughout 2022, but pressures on household budgets did not ease . if anything,
rising inflation and fuel costs affected many to a greater extent than before.
