AGM – STAFF REPORT – Tuesday 18 April 2017
The past year has been a success for the club.
Financially, we have built up a good reserve which would allow the club to continue for 3 months if funding were to suddenly cease. We have secured grant monies from various sources to cover salaries, training, workshops and rent.
Fees are being paid on time or in advance. The fees policy in place is being followed which ensures large debts are unable to be build up. All essential financial records are being kept monthly i.e. income & expenditure records and bank reconciliations. This ensures openness and transparency as well as control on finances. All payments are authorised and approved by two signatories for our account.
We received the following grant monies:
Derry City Council: £3988.52 (Towards Summer Scheme) Bright Start (Playboard) £12,637.50 (Towards salaries) Halifax Foundation £3500 (Towards the cost of rent) Community Foundation £1465.45 (Towards new resources) Caw/Nelson Drive Action Group £750.00 (Towards Summer Scheme) Accounting NI £1050 (Towards Level 5 Qualification) HSCB £510.98 (New Laptop and Phones) Braidwater £500 (Towards Refurbishment)
The club needs the committee to take on board their responsibilities if we are to survive. Funding will not always be available. Funding from Playboard has been secured for one more year. The club needs to work actively towards sustainability. I feel that each committee meeting needs to address this in the future. Each member needs to contribute positively and work together towards ensuring the club remains successful in years to come.
The staff team has changed; Charlene Metcalfe has been covering Leanne Mc Gahan’s maternity post. Charlene has done a great job keeping all records up to date and applying for funding where possible. Leanne is due to start back again next month. The team have pulled together as always over the past year in order to keep the club running efficiently. They have developed their skills and knowledge through valuable training opportunities such as Paediatric first aid, behaviour management, fire safety, child protection and financial workshops. The staff team have worked tirelessly to ensure a safe, warm and stimulating environment for the children attending. The children themselves have expressed happiness and contentment during their time with us. Programme plans have
ensured the developmental and play needs of the children are met. I’d like to thank the staff for their continuing hard work and commitment to the club.
I’d also like to thank those committee members who made an effort last year and helped to make the club a success. Any support is always much appreciated.
