Greyabbey Village Hall Management Committee oversees the use of one of the last remaining Carnegie grant funded halls in Northern Ireland and has been in existence since 1951. Now a registered Charity (NIC 103209) it operates within its constitution for the benefit of the people of the village of Greyabbey and local area. It works to the benefit of the local inhabitants without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion, by associating with the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and villagers in a common effort to advance education, health and provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupations. This is done with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants by maintaining and managing the Greyabbey Village Hall and encouraging activities for the furtherance of our goals.

The Deed for the community owned facility is held by the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) and the Committee is tasked with its management. Members of the Committee are drawn from the local community on an annual basis.

The charity has given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for NI guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the Charity’s objectives and activities as well as providing public benefit.

During 2023 the Management Committee continued its work in maintaining the Hall and its surroundings to ensure its future availability to the village and further afield.

All of the funds generated by private, community and other events go towards the upkeep of the more than half a century old Hall. The Charity continues to attract grant funding to enhance general bookings from a variety of groups.

The hall is considered to be in sound financial standing at the close of the financial year ending 31st January 2024.

This concludes the Trustees Report.
