Larne Mission Hall Trustee Report 2023-2024

The work has been very encouraging this year and going from strength to strength. Our new Pastor the Rev Dr Ferguson has proved to be very hard working and a real boost to the life of the church. He has spent a lot of time along with other volunteers knocking doors all over the town and inviting anyone and everyone to come into the services. This has brought in many visitors and people who have not been in church for some time. The most important thing is quite a few have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as their own and personal Saviour and known a transformation in their lives and homes.

Other organisations have benefitted from these new-comers, for example the Ladies Fellowship which is over seen by Mrs Mavis Knox. They had their Women Together in June where they have different activities each Monday during the month which is a big attraction. They also have various speakers each month and support different organisations from other countries in the world. They finished off the year with a Christmas dinner. Also they donated a lot of toiletries and other food items to CAP - Christians Against Poverty to help others less fortunate to enjoy their Christmas as well.

The Bible Explorers Organised by Mrs Heather Boyd and her team of helpers put a lot of effort into the children’s meetings on a Wednesday night. We also had a special 5 day club event for the children of the town. A Fun Day was held in Sept with bouncy castles, face painting, football, ice cream cart and hot dogs etc with over 200 in attendance.

Mr Geoffery McCrory funded a men’s breakfast with about 50 in attendance and again some non- church attenders were present.

We had a Special Mission by Mr J Weir in Nov and a Baptismal service the first in quite a while. Our Sunday School Trip went to W5 and the Bible class to ‘Lets Go Hydro’ and McDonalds.

We held two church lunches during the year which were very much enjoyed by all ages. Mr and Mrs Jane Wylie organise a tea rota and some light refreshments after each Sunday night service. This is a great way to get to know people and breakdown barriers in the fellowship.
