Calvary Braid Valley (CBV) is an evangelical church established for the spread of the gospel message and for the encouragement its members to maintain a life in accordance with Biblical principles. This is done through the dissemination of God’s Word, giving Biblical guidance as how to obtain a relationship with God and to continue to live in a manner that is pleasing to God. This is summed up in our mission statement which is, “To Know Jesus and Make Him Known”.
Calvary Braid Valley has been fortunate in that those who have benefited from our activities include not only the regular members of the church, but also many members of the wider community of Ballymena as well as the surrounding borough. Having a meeting place located in the town centre of Ballymena proves to be a convenient location to be able to provide fellowship, support and encouragement to many people in the area. For example, the church’s “Thrive” ministry, which benefits the public by giving the opportunity for those facing loneliness and isolation to have connection with others, meeting Saturdays fortnightly.
During the period covered by this fiscal year, CBV was able to both host and send participants to many events and activities open to the general public and for their benefit. These include hosting several mid-day community prayer services on behalf of support for the PSNI’s war on drugs. Members of CBV also participated in daily mid-day public prayers at The Braid Arts Centre, Ballymena
In addition, CBV participated in the initial meeting held by the PSNI in Ballymena with churches and inter-faith groups to both raise awareness of the drugs problem as well as develop strategies for them to combat the problem. Out of this meeting came a period of 52 days of public prayer at The Braid during its opening hours.

CBV was also involved with the follow-up activities that resulted from the PSNI-led initiative by participating in community transformation activities. Due to our meeting location in the town centre, we encounter many individuals caught in drug problems and actively are involved with improving their lives. Also, our online presence has enabled us as a church to host as well as be in attendance of group meetings for prayers, Bible study and a women’s Bible study that are open to the public. In the performance of all the above activities we were able to continue to bring comfort, encouragement and hope to many people both within our church and in the community at large.
Calvary Braid Valley was able to assist our local Broughshane Improvement Committee’s holiday festival by providing volunteers to participate in running a booth for the Faire. .

The Trustees of Calvary Braid Valley have kept in mind the Charity Commission’s statutory public benefit guidance in ensuring that the plans and decisions they have made in regards to carrying out activities are for the purpose of public benefit. This is in accordance with the constitution of Calvary Braid Valley, which governs the administration of the church. In addition, no one from CBV or any members of the Trustees have incurred any private benefit from the activities of the church
