Ihe trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025.

Objectives and Activities

Galliagh Womens Group was established in 1995 and has been working effectively with the community since this time, Galliagh Women's Group aims to increase the capacity of women (o contribute and participate in their communities, increase representation of women in public life at all levels, support women's access to resources, education, training and information, improve women's health and social well being provide opportunities to promote and encourage good community relations. Galliagh Women's Group particularly larget women from a disadvantaged background. We offer training opportunities to the most disengaged and marpinalized in our communities who do not use mainstream services. This includes those suffering from mental health issues, addictions and depression. As a user lead organisation we take lead from project beneficiaries and design programmes which encourage participation, communication and pecr support. We promote the importance of good mental health and well being and have a tolerant open minded and positive approach. We encourage people to talk about their feelings, helping to strengthen communication at home between friends in schools‘workplaces etc and reassure individuals that they do live in a caring community, one which is responsive to their needs with a local resource which they can avail of for support through difficult times. This has resulted in people seeking help at an eartier stage in their mental distress helping to keep them in the community. We aim to build upon our services to date and increases access to mental health survices by providing a free, confidential and accessible community counselling service within our community facility in Galliagh which began at the end of April 2010.

Public benefit

The ad ancement of education

The direct benefit flowing from this purpose is an increased opportunity to be involved in informal and format learning for the residents of the Galliagh area. Participants can increase their literacy and numeracy and IT shill fevels by attending classes at our centre and also gain new skills in area such as arts, crafts and sewing. This leads to increased confidence in Participants, a reduction in experiencing feelings of isolation and increased number of residents obtaining qualifications in numeracy, literacy and Information Technology. These benefits are evidenced through attendance sheets at all Classes and continual monitoring and evaluation of the ser ices provided from both Participants and tutors. There is no potential harm arising from this purpose The beneficiaries of this purpose are adult residents of the Galliagh area. There is no private benetit arising from this purpose.

The ad\ ancement of health

The direct benefit arising from this purposes is an increased knowledge of healthy lifestyle options through health promotion programmes. such as weight management and healthy eating programmes. Also, the reduction of stress through the provision of complimentary therapies in conjunction with Action Cancer and a counselling service to the women of the Galliagh area, who may be suffering from il) health. These benefits are evidenced through regular evaluation of the services that we provide and through the use of feedback fram participants involved, and our Annual General Meeting report which captures our outcomes. With regards to harm. we try to mintage any potential harm by using fully qualified counsellors and therapists who are fully insured for the work that they carry out. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the residents of the Galliagh area. From time to time, a private benefit may arise if committee members who are also members and volunteers and therefore are entitled to avail of these Services, but this benefit is purely incidental. To ensure fairness. they are placed on a waiting list and do not receive any preferential treatment.

With regards to harm, with members of the public entering our building there could be a Possibility ofa fall or similar, We thoroughly risk assess out building and activities and are covered by adequate insurance for this purpose. The benefit of this outweighs and potential harm. There is no private benefit arising from this purpose

Financial review

The Management Committee is enipowered to receive money in the form of subscriptions, grants and donations and to raise money by other lawful means. All money raised for the Association shall be used to further the objectives of the Association and for no other purpose.

Statement of trustees’ responsibilities

The trustees are responsible for preparing the annual report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice.

The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for that give a true and fair view of the slate of[the][affairs][of][thy][charity][at][the][end][of][the][financial][year][and][of][115] surplus or deficit for the financial year. The trustees are responsible for maintaining proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enables them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charties Act (Northern Irckind) 2008. The trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection af fraud and other irregularities.

A resolution will be proposed at the Annual Genera! Meeting that McGroarty McCafferty & Company Ltd be re-appointed as accountants to the charity for the ensuing year.
