Cairde Na Gaelscoile
The Trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2020.
Structure, Governance and Management
Gaelscoil Eadain Mhéir PTA (Cairde Na Gaelscoile) was formed on 5 October 2015 to provide educational resources for the school's pupils and to organise family-friendly events to generate funds. The charity is managed by the trustees who meet regularly to review activities and organise fund raising events. New trustees are nominated by current trustees. All of the trustees due to their experience and backgrounds are already familiar with the work of the charity.
The trustees meet regularly throughout the year and office holders are elected by the board on an annual basis.
Objectives and Activities
Gaelscoil Eadain Mhéir PTA (Cairde Na Gaelscoile) provides additional educational resources for the school's pupils by providing funding for extracurricular activities and learning support.
Public Benefit
Gaelscoil Eadain Mhdir PTA (Cairde Na Gaelscoile) work to ensure they provide public benefit through the advancement of education through the medium of Irish. The charity promotes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils by providing access to resources, events and activities which are not available through direct school funding. The charity also seeks to build links with the local community. In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity's purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries.
Achievements and Performances
Through funding and donations, Gaelscoil Eadain Mhéir PTA (Cairde Na Gaelscoile) has continued to provide activities and learning resources to benefit pupils.
-
Summer scheme The summer scheme ran again this year with an average of 20-25 children per day over the week taking part in a full programme of activities. The scheme was undertaken with a team of 3 teachers, 2-3 assistants supported by a further 3 volunteers.
-
Learning support With the funds raised during the year the school were able to purchase additional educational resources and learning support such as books and maths games. These resources helped to support learning in reading, paired maths scheme and in the classroom.
Financial Review
All activities have remained within budget for the period. The trustees have considered the projected income and costs for the incoming year and are satisfied they have the necessary resources in place to operate for the foreseeable future. For this reason they continue to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements.
Risk Management
The trustees have examined the major strategic, business and operational risks which the charity faces and confirm that systems have been established to enable regular reports to be produced so that the necessary steps can be taken to lessen these risks.
