Expenditure is recognised on an acctuals b&sis once there is a legal or Constructive obligatiOD to make a
payment to a th￿d party, it is probable that settlement will be required and the amount of the obltgation
can be measur¢d r¢liably. Exp¢nditur¢ is classified under the following activity headings..
ChaTitable activities include the costs of events undertaken to furtber the puryoses of the company and
th¢ir asso¢lat￿ siipport wst& in¢liiding governance costs.
Support costs are those costs incurred in support of direci expenditUTe on the objects of the company and
include project management catried out at Headquarter5. Governance costs are those iticu￿ed in
connection with administrdtion of the compall) and cotllpliallcc with Consti￿tiO￿al and sta￿tOry
requir¢m¢nts.
The analysis of thc5C Costs is included in notes 5 and 6.
Irrecoverdble VAT is charged as a cost ag2iDSt th¢ ￿tiVity for which th¢ cxp¢nditure was incurred.
