Background
Laui)¢hed in 2008. as a project of Belf451 City Vineyard Church, Storehouse had a very simple aini: to
coinbat food rK)verty throughout ihe Greater Beifasi areL w'orking iowards the day ￿,hen no 01)e in our city
shoLild havc to go hiingry. Sinc¢ thcn the project has evolvcd with Storehouse (Nll being cstablishcd in 2010
and the focus broadciiing to en¢on)pass other basic needs such as clothes. fumiture and household goods.
Today Storehous¢ is providing around 100 food parcels. seeing 90 refetrals in our ccntre. ai)d making around
20 furniture dLliveries every wcck. We partiier with over 200 chariiies and agencies across the city and work
8lonEside more than 70 churches, s¢hools, and businesses.

i¢an). Wiihin these sessions we provided approximately 3100 food bags. roughly 41 tonncs of food, over
1000 iicnis of fumiiure and over 65(K> itenis of clothing, as well as l OOO'S of household goods and toil¢lry
iteins to faniilies and individucils livinE within tM)verty throughout Belfast. The valiie of ihe goods givei),
withoul LhargTe to the individuals se￿ed, is in cxce5s of £124.OW. We provided this practical help lo ovcr
1000 uniqLie homes across ihe city, representing a vast spectrum of rhe Community including. but not lin)iled
to. fainilies willi yOLing childre￿ individuals living on benefit& those struggling with cycle5 of addiction or
ment81 health issues, thc hon)eless, r¢fug¢es and asylun? seeke￿.
b} Alongsid¢ the praciical proyision we soughr io devel¢)p a healthy, Positive community within our service
users and volLlI)teers and the wider Belfast community through facilitating soine relalioi)al based
enviroi)nients. Every week we ran a br¢akfa.s1 drop-in call¢d Siorehouse Floine. providing a healtliy brcakfast
and a safe, regiilar space lo develop relationships for those struggling M'iih isolation. We averagLd over 40 iii
altcndance each week with significant conversaiions and friendships being 2 weekly iiomi. Maiiy of our
re&pLilars ultLSted to an iiicrcased s¢nse of coniinunity, to a more positive ouilook on their ¢ir¢uiiistance5 and
to a significant benefit in their mental health.
Alongside Home we added B monthly "family. meal called The Table. The Table creates a space for anyone
to come and participalc in the preparing, serving and ealing of a family meal. Coi)Yersation is en¢oura&?ed,
and flowing? across the tcibles, as tnany from vasily different backgrounds sit iog¢iher, 51iaring life. serving
on¢ anoihcr and cxpanding their understanding of ihe city they call hotne. We regularly have over 50 coiniiig
to eat and ¢hat together.
We also faciliiated a weekly arts drop-in for teens and young adults within the city Cent￿ commuiiity,
off¢ring an alt¢mO1ivc to "hanging out" on ihe streets in Ihe evenings. Wc cxplored various fonns of visual
arl, allowii)g younb ￿0p1¢ to explore various talents, while creating a relational environment which allowed
for posilivc coiiversalion.
Throiighollt th¢ Wintcr our 51aff and volunleers purchased and built a p)lytuni)cl to kick start our gardening
project Ground. Through thc Spring and Suiiimer we sought lo develop ¢ommunity aii)01)gsl volLlI)leers and
scrvicc USCTS as we learned iog¢ih¢r aboui growing and lending to fruit and vegetables. We u'¢r¢ ablc lo (hcn
include what was growii as a healthy addilion io our f(x)d bags, to cook al our Table environinents and to
begin lo offer som¢ rooking cla5scs for a nuinb¢r of ih05c in OLbr community.
Throughout Il)e year we hav¢ ¢ontinucd io speak in many of our 80+ partner ¢hurchc5, scliools and
busin¢sses, shariiig alxiul the work of Siorehousc aiid niore importanily speaking to change perceptions of
Ioc<il poverty ISSUC5 and inviting IOO'S inio ongoing conversaiions about the challenges faciiig our
communities. We have off¢r¢d training lo our amazing of 15(kfr volunteers in area5 such as health and
5af¢ly, ff￿5[ aid. food hygiene, Sliicide awarcncss, undersianding the benefit system and mucli niore. We
coniiniic to scck a bctter uiiderstanding across th¢ social<conomi¢ dividcs within our city.
