The Directors (tho are also the trustees) are pleased to present their annual report together with tht finatscial statements
of the charity for the year ended 315t August 2023, which are prepared to ￿tet the reguirttlltnts for a directors 'r¢port
and accounts for Companies Act purposes. The directors have adopted the provisions of the Comparnies A¢1 2006 and
Accountit)g and Reporting by Charities.. Staterllent of Recomn]ended Practtce applicable to cliarities prepari￿g accounts
in ac¢ordan¢e with the FinanciaE Reporting Standard applicable in the UK aud Republic of Ereland (Charities SORP-
FRS102), in preparing the annual report and finan¢ial stat¢m¢ttts ofth¢ ¢harity.
Achievements and performance
The vision of Compassion Ministries ES 'to see many people walk on a journey of discipleshEp as they discover thEir
]x)tential in God.
We PToYidc sUPPOrtto those m05t in n¢ed by signposting to relevant support 5¢fviGe5. pro￿510￿ of voluntary opportunitl¢5
and providing a ¢onne¢tion to tbe wider support of the local ¢hurch.
During the last 12 fftonth5 we ha￿ foGU5Ed on up5killing existing volunteers and staff to support and 51Tengthen th6 futu[£
project plans of Compassion ministries. Examples include linkin8 in with Mercy Ministries to understand the tll05t
suitable progrdtnmes to adopt within the local church environment. Prov£ding specialist coachKng to those from PBNI via
Compassion Compass Coaching. Continuing to support those with addictions get specialist care whilst also rnaintaining
a safe home env*rontr]¢nt to T¢tun] ba¢k to following completion of programm6s. Cotllpassion rninistrie5 ha5 a15D funded
resourcing costs of Connect Ministries to ensure the level of Commullity care diKipleship 15 a*ailable to meet the
lletd.
All of this contributes to makin¥ a huge difference in the lives of many individuals, helping them break free fro
addiction, hoptlessntgs and hannful life patterns to fjnd ntw dirtttiott and purpose.
We continu¢ to work Closely with "Connect Ministries aDd Gr¢ert Pastures. The People's Church" to deliver on the
vision and mission of this ¢harity as we seek to support individuals on their journeys to htspe and restoration.
Fi￿antiaI revaew and fLtDds policy
During the year the Charity had total income of £148,427 a[￿ total txpenditure of £110,017 rtsulting in a net surplus of
£38,410. The net surplus fi)r tb¢ Ye￿ as shown in th¢ statement of fjnahrial activities on pag¢ 7 has be¢n transferred to
the compally's fL]llds alld has resiilted in an increase in total Charity funds from £E,304,539 to £1,342,949. Details of the
financial position of the Charity at the year-end can be seen on page 8.
At the tnd of the year the Charitr had £2,666 cash at bank. It is the aim of the Tn￿tte5, if possible, to maintain an
unrE5tricted c85h resffi'e equivalent to that of two InDnths ¢xpenditur¢.
The company plans to continue and expand its activities in the forthcoming years.

Basis of preparatio
The fjnancial statements have been prepared on a goittg coneern basis in accordance with Accounting and Reporting
by Charities.. Statement of Recommended PraCt￿ce applicable to charities preparing their ac¢ounts ir wordan¢e with
the FIDancial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK alld Republi¢ of Ireland (FRS 102)- (Charities SORP (FRS
102)), the Finan¢iaJ Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republi¢ of Ireland (FRS 102) alld the Co￿panIcS
Act 2006. The accounts are prepared ill Sterling. which is the functional currellcy of the charity.
The Cotllpany meets the definition of a publEc benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially
rscognistd at historical cost and transaction valu£ unless otherwise stated in (ht relev2nt accountittg policy notels).
Preparation of ¥ccounts a going conEern b8SIS
The Company generally meets its dayto day working capital requiremellts from its anttual inwme. The TrusTees have
obtained and reN'iewed cash flow forecasts for the coming }'ear and based these are satisfied that the Company has
resources to provide a reasonable expectation that it can continue to meet its financial obligations as they fall due for
th¢ fores¢eabl¢ futur¢. These financial siatem¢nts hav¢ thercfore been prEpared a going ￿ls.

Donations received coniprises all cash receivable for the accounting year, including anv related tax recover2ble under
Gift Aid. Income is recoEnised M,hen the Charity has established an entitlement to the in¢ome. For d()nations this is
typically upon receipt. Gift aid income is &ccrued in respect of charitable donations already receipied.

Resour¢es expended are recognis¢d in the year in whiGh they are inGurred.
Charitable expenditure ¢omprises those costs in¢urred by the ¢haTity ill the delivery of its activities and services to its
benefi¢iaries. It includ¢5 both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirEct llaiure
eC¢5Wy to support them.
Tangible assets
The tangible assets of the charity cornprise of land and buildings along with plant and equipment and a Jntstor vdiiclt.
No depreciation is charged on freehold property where the property does not suffer any diminution of value over the
period of its useful life. Equipment and fittings are depre¢iat¢d at & rat¢ c&lGul&trd to reduce it to rc5idual valu¢ at th¢
end of ils expected nonnal life on a straight-line basis at a rate of 15ts/D Ptr a[￿U￿. Motor vehicles are depreciat¢d at
a rate calcu￿ated to rcduc¢ it to residual valu6 at ihe end of its expected nornial life oll a straight-line basis at a rate of
250/ts per aiinum.
The assets, residu&l values and useful lives are reviewt(L and adjusted, if appropnate, at thE end of tach reporting
period. The effect of ally change is accounted for prospectively.

Assets held under hire purchase agreErnents are capitalised to tangible fixed assets and are depreciated overthe shorter
of the lease temi and their useful lives. The capital element of future fjnance payments is included wjthin crBditDT5.
Finance charges are allocated to accounting periods overthe Ittsgth of thE ctsnlTaci and rtrpresBlIt a Bonstant proportion
of the balance of capital rtpayments outstanding.

The CO￿panY only has fjnancial assets and financial liabilities of a kAnd that qualify as basi¢ financial ittstruments.
Basic financial instruments are initially re¢ognised at transa¢tion price &nd sub5cquently rn¢a5ur¢d at theLI 5ctt]ement

Fullds are Cl￿SIfied as either unrestricted funds or restrtcted funds. defined as follows.
Unrestr5Cted funds are expendable at the discretion of the trustees itt furtherance of the objects ofthe charity. If psrts
of the vnrestricted funds are vdrniarked at the discretion tsf the trustee5 for a particular purwse, they are designated as
a separate fLfftd. This de5Egnation has all adrninistrative purpose only attd does noi legally restrict the trnstees,
discretion to apply the fi￿d.
Restricted funds are fi]nds subject to specific requirements as to their us¢ which may be de¢lared by the donoror with
their authority or created through legal processes, but still within the wider objeGt5 of th¢ Coinpany.
The initid acquisition of tangible fix¢d assets fund¢d through an appeal or by of donat10115 are treated a5 restricted
funds. Where the t¢rms of the gift pemit the Trust¢t5 to Use the asset on an unrtstricled basis for any chaTitablE

Pensions
The Charity operates a defined ctsntributLOII 5chEme for all staff. ErnployeT CDntributions are charged thTough the
income and expenditure account when incurred.

The investmellt property constructed by the Company was funded through spe¢ific donations and fundraisers, and as
such. was held in a restricted fund. The ternis of the gifts plac¢ no r¢quirernent for th¢ Charity to hold thE property
for a specific PLllyose on an on-going basis. Following completion of the property. the Trusttei consider that the
t¢nns of the gifts have been met, end therefore the Charity 15 pem]itted to use the asset on an Ejnreskncted basis for
