Knocknagoney Parish, Church of Ireland, CCNI no. 102117 Annual Report for financial year 2022

Our Purposes

Knocknagoney Parish Church along with the Aslan Association and other stakeholders in the local area continue to work together to come alongside the local community; helping to improve the quality of life of residents in the parish. The operation and functions of the parish relate to aiding education and assisting people in need. We continue to do this through the advancement of religion through holding regular worship services, hosting organisations and groups within the church and outside it, running programmes and by communicating with and caring for parishioners and others in our community.

Outputs, Outcomes, Impacts and Public Benefits

The work of this church touches into the community in many ways, not least through our regular church services; Parent and Toddlers group; Luncheon Club; Bowling Club; The Girls’ Brigade; Slimming World; Ticker Club; in addition to the use of the hall by community groups and for celebrations and parties etc. This all aids in the building of relationships and involvement with people in the local area.

Under the title of Knocknagoney Area Forum (KAF) we work alongside Garnerville Presbyterian Church, Knocknagoney Primary School and the Community Centre. There has also been good support for KAF from Tesco, Knocknagoney. KAF are involved with health, housing, environment etc. through everyday work and through engagement with councillors and MLAs.

Central to what we do as a church are Christian principles based on love: for each other within the church and for the people outside. Café Church, operating monthly on a Sunday is a good example of this, inviting all in the community to join us for worship and providing refreshments. A number of our parishioners have started and continue to run a Parents and Toddlers group and a Luncheon Club.

As a church we meet for prayer, to bless the churches and our community. This is done on a regular weekly basis joining with members of the neighbouring Garnerville Presbyterian Church. Prayer is central to what we do.

Finances and Election of Charity Trustees

All Church members are invited to attend the General Vestry or Parish AGM. Those who attended have been presented with the Church’s accounts for the year and have been involved in the election of Select Vestry members who constitute the Trustees of the Charity.

Throughout the course of the year the Church’s activities have fallen within the above purposes, in accordance with guidelines from the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. We are pleased to be an integral part of the local community and look forward to developing our relationships. Our thanks go to all in our Church who have been so supportive through this year.
