NBHS TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30™ APRIL 2025
Structure, Governance and Management a The Society is a charity registered with the CCNI with number NIC 102097. It consists of a members who pay an annual subscription and non-subscribing attendees. The business and ba affairs of the Society are conducted by a committee of elected members, some of whom are : elected to nominated posts. The committee consists of the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer ’ together with up to six appointed members. All committee members are elected at the Annual General Meeting. All committee members give their time freely, and no remuneration or other benefits are received. The governing document is the NBHS Constitution.
Objectives and Activities
The Society is established for charitable purposes only to promote the advancement of education and knowledge through the study of the history of North Belfast but also further afield. The Society promotes the culture, heritage and history of North Belfast through a programme of monthly lectures with an invited speaker from September — May each year. The lecture programme is advertised in the parish notes of the Parish of St Peter and St James and on the Society’s Facebook page.
In setting the objectives and planning the activities for the year, the committee members have | given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on . public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the Society’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries.
Activities during 2024 -2025
The Society enjoyed another successful year of meetings with a varied programme of lectures held in the parish halls of St Peter’s church. Topics covered included:
