**Purposes:** The objectives of Out of the Shadows are to act as a resource for current and former security force personnel and ancillary support staff who served during the Troubles and their families living within Northern Ireland,by providing advice and support and organising programmes of physical, educational and social activities as a means of advancing opportunities for personal development and strengthening confidence and self value through shared learning to enable the beneficiaries to participate in society providing opportunities for community engagement to enable a positive influence within the wider community of the perception of the role of the beneficiaries within the Northern Ireland context advancing education and skills training and to develop capacities and capabilities through education and training opportunities with a view to improve life conditions of the beneficiaries relief and reduce social isolation of the beneficiaries and to improve emotional health and well being among the beneficiaries in order to improve their conditions of life and raise awareness of the issues affecting them and to improve social engagement.
